Hi,Mostly I play NL now. The fact of the matter is that to me, NL and lhe are incompatible games. limit is for mouthbreathers and reprobates who think that drinking their own piss is entertaining. However, lately when I've been playing limit on stars, usually when I'm completely wasted or it's really late, I've been winning a lot. And this is pretty much unacceptable because somewhere subconsciously it makes me think that limit isn't such a bad game after all and maybe I can go back to it. I'd like to quash this once and for all because limit is for pederasts and child molesters and I am neither. As far as I can tell the easiest way for this to happen is for you to put me on a massive downswing whenever the chance arises that I feel the urge to play limit. This is for my own good, and thank you very much.

The past 2 days have been basically break even, up about ½ a buy in over it.

I have noticed since I started playing again this month that I’m a huge LAG playing about 28 VPIP – 19 PFR. Which is so different then my old style of TAG which was about 16 to18 VPIP – 10 PFR. This new LAG style has been going very well. I am not 100% sure why it is working so well now vs in the past when I have tried it. It has to be the stakes that makes it successful. The uNL stakes are just full of so many Loose passive players which means LAG style probably works the best vs this type of opponent. As I move up in limits (not anytime soon) I will probably have to tighten up a lot again which is fine, I can’t play more then 4 tables while playing LAG style because there are just too many decisions to be made in too short a time to 8 table. I can pull off 8 tables pretty easily while TAGging it up. As long as It keeps working I will keep implementing the LAG style. I will adjust as things change.

I was playing really well and making a lot of big hands last night and was cruising up about 3-4 buy ins, and then took a couple stinky beats that brought me back down to earth and actually got stuck a couple buy ins. Kept playing really well and got on a table HU vs a really passive donk and won a buyin from him, then a crazy hand came up, I had A4hh. Donk has worked up a 65$ stack (Table is 6 handed at this point) I have 55$ I think. 1 or 2 people limp, Donk min raises Button like he has been doing a bunch for no real reason. I raise to 2$ to isolate him from SB. Everyone folds, he calls. Flop Kh 5c 2s. I pick up a gut shot and back door hearts. I check ,Donk bets 1$ and I call. We are so deep and he is so bad that if I hit a strange hand he is for sure paying me off big. Turn comes 8h or something, he bets 2$ I raise to 7.50$ or so with Heart draw and gutter ball. He calls. River is a gorgeous 3s giving me the wheel. I check, He bets 5$ into a 20$ pot so I can’t really put him on any specific kind of hand after the way he plays it. He’s so passive I think it’s quite possible he wouldn’t shove turn after I raise him. But he obviously has a decent hand, he never bets more then 1 or 2x BB without good hands. I have 40$ behind or something, so I shove. He thinks for 2 or 3 seconds and calls with KQcc. WOOOOOOW. So sick, how can someone stack off for 200BB with TP2K. Pretty sick. Needless to say I added him to my Buddy list.

I Heart 400 BB pots. – When I win.

I’m still running at 11 PT bb/100 after about 10k hands since coming back. Which is pretty awesome. If I keep playing really well and not losing too many huge pots I should be on a full roll soon enough.

One other hand I played soooooo horribly from last night.

I picked up KK in SB and really tight guy 12 VPIP/8 PFR/3.5AF is in BB. Folded to me and I raise to 1$, BB 3 bets to 3$, 98.647799357% of the time I 4 bet here, but for some reason I think if he has AA he’s more then willing to get it in, and if I had QQ or JJ he may fold so I’ll try to see a flop, I decide to just call. Flop JQ4r, So pretty much the worst flop for me ever. If he had said JJ, QQ I’m behind now and if he had AA I was always behind. I slowly check, he bets very small, 2$, at this point im thinking he either has a set or trying to pick up the pot cheap with AK. I call, turn is another rag, I think and then check and he bets very small again, 4$, now I’m pretty sick but I just suck and wasn’t in the correct mind state to lay this down, River comes another rag, so no flushes etc. I check, thinking if he has AK I need to let him bluff off more chips but a player this tight, there is no way he is 3 barrelling. he shoves for 13$. So at this point I’m sick and 95% I’m beat but it was one of those times when you know and you say, ok I call anyways, haha. So terrible.

My main mistake in this hand in my opinion was not realizing he has 88 BB stack and just making a standard 3 bet. There isn’t much of a point in trying to get fancy when a player has less then 100bb imo. I shouldn’t ever digress from my goal of always getting AA,KK and AKo+ all in preflop.

My next mistake is not folding the turn. Or, maybe a raise on the flop to 7$ and folding to his shove?

No idea, confused, I’ll be posting this hand on 2+2 and maybe CR to see what people think.

GOALS:

Poker –

1) Continue to play uNL games on Party for an unspecified amount of time. Reason 1: Because it’s fun just being in action.
Reason 2: Because I don’t want to go broke….again.

2) Data mine constantly at my current limit to help increase my stats on opponents.

3) Financial Goals:

i. Pay off my 5k LoC by Dec 31st 2007.
ii. Set a budget and stick to it.

4) Continue to work out (weight lifting) minimum 3 x per week.
5) Continue to play sports 3 x per week.
6) Take my wife out for nights out more often. Too often I fall into the routine of going out and hanging out with friends when she’s working and when she is home I just want to stay in and relax with her but she wants to go do stuff. I really need to make more of an effort to do that.

7) Beat my children and dog less often…………………..Ok I don’t even have children and I don’t beat my dog so this one doesn’t really apply.

I will try to amend/add to these as time goes on.

Had another great night tonight.

Things have been going so well with me. At least in cash tonight was awesome, Satellites not so grand.

Played about 12 SnG sats to 300k and PPM qualifiers, busted all of them except one, some spantabulous beats but such is satellite poker.

Cash games made up for it, Only played 536 hands, but it went well, i'll post some pics below of tonights session as well as all my hands since i started playing again.

If you will notice how well my KK and QQ hands are doing for me :) haha. So don't think i'm running like god or anything. I lose my fair share.

Tommorow I am going to use Pokerhand.org hands i posted to convert to HTML and put them in a blog with some thoughts on the hands etc.

I actually quit early tonight to write this up, it feels good to play lots of short sessions instead of just one huge long one.

I'm going to try to post a decent post tonight since i forgot last night cause my friend ScottyJugs came over, i made some scrumtrulescent food and we played some poker (him sweating me).

Won a few Party Poker Millioions sat qualifiers and some 300k guaranteed sat qualifiers. and ended up about 1.5 buy ins. Played really well, 6-8 tabling, 4x Cash 2-4x sats.

Was reading a ton of new blogs today that i've never read before.
Please let me not ever be like this guy at any point in my life.

I have been reading some of Paul Nobles blog today and found it rather inspirational.

He seems to have had a plethora of life experience and seems to genuinely know how to be successful. This is not necessarily a rare commodity in this day in age but it is a rare trait in myself when it comes to business and excelling in business. I have such a high level of drive and determination when i start something i find interesting but slowly i fall into that "rut" that so many people find themselves in.

Tonight i am going to think a lot about my goals for the rest of this year as well as some longer term goals with life as well as poker. I'll post later.

I want to come back to this post every week and reread it until i have it memorized. It all is such excellent advice. and yes i am Option #2. - This from Paul Nobles blog (link above)

Success series (part 2)-Ways to become a millionaire

First, let me just say to you that I am not a millionaire, so if you would like you can stop reading right now. I guarantee you, though, you’ll miss out. You might be asking yourself then, what makes me an authority on becoming a millionaire; how about the fact that I live my life like one. This year alone I traveled to London, Amsterdam, Costa Rica, Vegas multiple times, New Orleans and that is just within the last 5 months. In a sense my life right now is what most people dream about.

I have seen the best Broadway shows, sat ringside for high profile boxing matches, and been to the final four, Word Series and the NCAA football championship. I do everything first class, so as to not taint the experience. Name a place in the Caribbean and I have an opinion on it. If you want to know what the best restaurant in the world is, I can weigh in on that too!

I mean why would you go to Los Angeles and stay in the Super 8 Motel when you could hang with celebrities at the Beverly Hills Hotel and rent a Porsche to spend the day in Malibu? Oh yeah, I hooked that up for my wife’s birthday in April.

You could say I am bragging, but I’d prefer you think of it as illustrating a point. Why live life thinking about wealth accumulation? What you should do is experience life with the wealth you have. It’s sickening traveling to places and seeing nothing but old people because everyone has been taught to be scared shitless that they will be penniless later in life. I have a friend that would love to play the WSOP but won’t because it’s too expensive. This guy makes a great living and could easily satellite in. What is his main issue? He could be stuck there too long and it could interfere with his job. What??? If you get stuck there too long you are most likely winning a ton of loot. I am just saying you don’t want to be 60 years old trying to catch up to your dreams because you were afraid to take risks in your youth. If you are fortuitous enough to come into some money consider doing something you might have dreamed of when you were 6 years old. I have the same fears everyone else has and I will talk a bit about some of the things that I do to ensure I can maintain this lifestyle.

Here are some ways to accumulate wealth and a time value equation to further illustrate things. All of these scenarios are generic templates. What you do with those templates will determine your end result. So I have tried to give a few scenarios:

1. Coming straight out of high school and entering the marketplace. Most people will tell you that you can’t succeed doing this, but a little hard work goes a long way and most importantly you start from $0. You also don’t owe yourself anything so driving a 1989 Honda Accord is no big deal, neither is having 14 roommates. The problem is you will reach a point where doors are closed to you and it is virtually impossible to penetrate upper management with a high school diploma. But who cares, this isn’t about working more or getting promotions, this about accumulating wealth and you should be able to sock away $500-$1000 a month with most of it tax free. You can reach the 50k (through a regular job) level easy but that is likely the end of the road for you, only the truly special people can get to 70k-80k. Almost no one without a degree will go higher than that. If you saved $1,000 for 29 years and 9 months you will be a millionaire. Here is a calculator if you would like to get there quicker. Adjusted for inflation it will take you over 40 years, but even at that point you are only 58.

2. School gives you options but a Bachelor’s degree is little more than a high school diploma these days. If you are going to consider college you need to understand that without a Master’s or PhD your value is only marginally better than someone with a High School Diploma. What you will likely find is that you will get in the corporate world and have to continue your education to go further. If you are going to do it, do it now. This is no guarantee of success, mind you, but it does open some doors that would be closed otherwise. For my purposes I am going to say a Master’s degree will take you 8 years, so you are 26. Beef up that resume as much as you can and try to work as little as possible. At about $30k a year you are down $240k, not to mention student loans of $30k-$50k. Remember working out of a hole is harder than working from even and you will be paying interest on all of the new things you will want as a reward for all of your hard work. If you can get a 50k a year job, you will spend half of that on a house and a car but with a little hard work you should be able to maintain this lifestyle. While you are only 8 years behind the high school student is close to one double based on the rule of 72, assuming they can get 7% on investments. Also, when you are 26 you begin to feel the pressure of finding a life-long mate. All of this takes precious resources that hurt wealth accumulation and none of this assures you anything, once those doors are open you will have to do something with your opportunity.

3. So you want to start your own business? Well good luck to you. Do you realize that the guys from Google had to go out on their own because search engines like Alta Vista and Yahoo laughed them out of the door? There are many more stories (like Bill Gates’) of people who had to leave school to pursue their dreams because no one believed in their ideas; and why should they? I would imagine that Yahoo laments that deal, but not the 100s of others that they passed on that were duds. Being an entrepreneur can be financially rewarding, but if your goals are just financial rewards you will likely fail. There are days, weeks, months and even years that the people involved in a start up will question the direction they have chosen and many of them will be right. Its not the easy path but it helps when you choose an idea that you believe in and couple it with some life lessons. Personally I had a few mini failures and at least one blow out. All before I turned 30. To say I was broke at 30 would have been a lie. I would have enjoyed being broke if it meant I would have been at $0. As an entrepreneur you either need to get lucky on the first shot (that does happen but helps to be really smart like the Google guys, who had their PhDs) or get comfortable failing. If those failures bring you life lessons, they will most likely have been worth it, though at the time (by time I mean crying in the closet turning the lights on and off for a week) it is hard to realize that. A million dollars is achievable easily but you have to have a strong stomach and passion for what you are doing.

Simple things you can do that help

Pay cash for everything except your house (yes including your car, though use low financing to contribute more to savings). Also, try no cost mortgages, especially if rates are high. You want the flexibility to move into something cheaper long term, even though it will be about .5 of a percent higher, one good day in the market could make that up for you. If you have credit cards use them for miles so you can travel more and pay them off immediately. As you can see from the above examples, this is difficult with the second option because you feel entitled because you worked so hard to basically achieve nothing in the private sector. You have been sacrificing, and the idea of more sacrifice is difficult to stomach. I experienced this coming out of my blow out and ultimately it made things more difficult and the process longer by living life when I wasn’t really entitled (that deserves its own paragraph).

Do not live life up when you are in the hole! In scenario 2 I don’t think being a millionaire is really the goal, the goal is to build a foundation that can sustain you in the workplace for the rest of your life. Sure you can build wealth but at what cost, certainly the hard working people sacrifice something on the way to the top. Scenario 1 can live life but the cost is that ceiling that they can never get over. I think the more you acquire things you look around and think “what the hell did I need that for”. It’s a simple question, who has a better life, the CEO or a corporation or the average guy?

Becoming a millionaire is not particularly a difficult thing. Becoming a millionaire without selling out the rest of your life is quite difficult. Balance is important.

My weekend in review.

Before I get into too much detail about the weekend I am considering buying a domain name and hosting my own blog/site and saying EFF YOU BLOGSPOT.

It’s not a bad site, I just feel like owning my own spot and doing whatever I want.

Does anyone know of a free blog posting thing you can host on a site or should I just update the site manually every time I want to post? This isn’t a for sure thing, just an idea.

Anyone have any good domain names? I currently have one I like but will take any ideas incase I like those better.

My weekend was pretty eventful.

Friday: My wife was working till 11pm Friday night so I just stayed in, did some house work and played a bunch of poker which went pretty well.

I am still playing micro stakes with a short roll but having fun doing so, and that’s all that really matters right? I’ve decided I’m not going to think about moving up taking shots for a long time, I enjoy being in the game and I am realizing that once I start taking shots or moving up that’s all I keep trying to do and eventually get myself in a bad spot. So for the next couple months it’s gonna be fun time at micro stakes. I am taking shots at qualifiers for bigger MTTs on Party. Those aren’t going great haha. I’m also playing some

But I digress for the moment. Went to sleep at 11pm on Friday because I was beyond exhausted for some reason.

Funturday or “Saturday” to you lay folk: Was possibly one of the busiest days I’ve had in a very long time, non stop going from the 8am wake up.

I Went to the gym after my 2 week hiatus followed by a 2 hour bike ride with the wife. After riding we did a bunch of gardening crap,

The evening was made fantastical by dropping my wife off at my friends house where his g/f was planning a surprise bday party for him (we took him out for dinner to get him out of house for setup purposes)

Myself and friend took said birthday boy out for dinner with one of their room mates and one of her friends. The roommate was a really cool girl but her friend was a pretty big retard. I am not a fan of huge attention seekers, this might seem some what hipocritcal as I write in my blog seeking attention, but she is the type of girl who will just go around to random people just to make guys talk to her and want her then move on to the next guy. This was pointed out at the surprise party for my friend about 30 min after dinner when she was told to stand on a stool (by another attention seeking broad) and she did so for close to 10 minutes telling us about herself – this is funny at first but once you realize she is loving standing up there acting the fool I quickly lose interest. Anywhoore….. The surprise party was awesome, he tried to screw it up by getting a ride back to his house with me but I kept denying him because I had ppl to pick up before we got back there. I picked up the necessary people(one person) and hid him inside with the rest of the folk. My friends roll up and he is first in the door to unlock it and WAMMMYYYYY! Luckily his sister used the video function on her digicam to record the whole ordeal, (I should post it on youtube). Anyways, we had a good party, some tastey snacks and then off to 29 Park we went (Club downtown) It ended up being a really fun night, we had VIP which comes with some nice perks (we got our own private section with ridiculously comfy couches and our own LCD TV, as well as fresh strawberries and food etc,) All in all we had a really good night. About 15 of us ended up at the party/going out so we had a good crew. My friend Krys got ridiculously smashed (which is saying a lot because he has a serious drinking problem as is hahaha).

Sunday: Hit up the gym again and then drove my wife to my sisters so they could hang out, I then proceeded to hit up the grocery store to get things for a bbq at my bro’s. Steak, chicken veggies dogs burgs, the usual, I ended up making 10x to much food and left a delicious top sirloin steak 8 burgers and some shishkabobs(sp?) at my brothers. Oh well.

I’m jealous of Scotty B cause he got to go to Niagara Falls Fri,Sat,Sun to gamble and party for a friends bachelor party. I hope he did well. He’s a pretty big lucksack (ScottyJugs on Party)

I made a post on 2+2 last week about Hit N Run artists. I have been thinking a lot about this and have realized that it is probably the best thing for poker long term, especially in a post UIGEA (or whatever the fuck it is called.). Not one time in my shortish poker career have I ever enjoyed being hit n run or have I ever heard anyone sincerely say that they felt it was a good thing. Well let me be the first in the history of poker to say, I LOVE HIT N RUN ARTISTS and from now on when it happens to me I will know that poker will be safe for one more day. Money flow in poker looks like a pyramid. Many small stakes players grind and win from all the worst players and then they take shots at bigger games and get picked off, and those winners move up and lose and so on until all of the money is at the top (sbrugby, Jman, durrr, Phil Ivey etc) where it is inevitably taken out of play. When people get Hit N run it usually will be by a player who is playing far far above their head and if they win and leave they bring all that money down to the bottom of the pyrimad, to their normal game and allow its slow ascent to the top once again. Rinse Repeat. This keeps more money in play online and helps to stop people from drying up and quitting the game. I could go on and on but nobody is reading anyways.

Ok I promised a live hand so here it is.

A yuppyish early 20 something kid comes to the table and this is his first hand. Hes got a massive stack of about 12k avg is about 3500 right now, I have 5k. Still pretty early in tourney, 35 of 50 remaining. I pick up AsKs and it’s folded to me in the mid to late pos. Blinds are 100/200 no ante. I raise to 700 (600 is probably fine to but if the opponents are willing to call any bet I mine as well get some money in while I’m ahead. Yuppy is in BB and calls the raise and pot is HU. Flop comes K92 rainbow, He checks very weakly and I figure I should check to get him to call me down with an underpair to the K high board (if that is what he has). I probably should bet here and I would 96.347% of the time but this time I decided to check since he seemed so weak. Anyways, turn comes a 3 putting a flush draw out there, and he weak checks to me again so I bet 800 into a 1500$ pot, Pretty standard I think and he calls (Just seems very weak so no point potting it) river is a 4 and obv this cant really help his hand and he checks, so since I obv have best hand I have to valube bet – which I do. 1200$ into 3100$ pot. He c/r me all in. so at this point the pot is now I have 2300 left and the pot is $7800. This is where I really have the trouble, Especially live, When something like this catches me completely off guard I can’t seem to think it out clearly all the time, and I got so flustered from his strange play in the hand that I just almost insta call cause of pot size. The only legit hand I can put him on is 44 for a rivered set which is def part of his range but there are so many hilarious players in this tourney putting their whole stacks in with AJo for the 5^th raise that I probably can’t get away from it even if I think it out.

He turns over 56o and scoops. NUTZ.

Quick update.

Further post this weekend.

Have an AsKs hand i need to post about from live 60+5$ at Sarnia Casino from a few weeks back.

Also,

was in Romeo Michigan yesterday for Tacom Golf Tourny with work.

We crushed, We won by 6 shots with a paltry -15. (57) :) Next closest score was (-9) 63.

The course was in decent shape but the greens were unbelievable, so true and just perfect in every way.

Our team was ultra clutch, someone made clutch shots on almost everyhole.

we also won 160$ in skins for the tourny 2. which is solid. (out 60 yard pitch in eagle on a par 4 helped with that) :)

Anyways, the shinanagins from yesterday were pretty hilarious. I'll post the video/pics of our International Business Manager jumping in a pond at the end of the day.

also, hitting up a strip club with (Owner, Finance Manager, International Business Manager and Purchasing manager) usually would be a no no except however when they are the most excited to go.

Anyways I'll give more updates in full post.

Also, the pond jumper ended up travelling back to Michigan at 1:30am to meet up with the Beer girl from the course hahah lol. Hilarious. He still isn't in to work yet and it's 9:00am.

Here is a hand that helped me get even for this session, but I was really confused as to how to play it.

I think majority of the time I should shove the turn with enough behind but in this instance there is 0 chance he is laying down AK or AJ, could be AT or AQ which he very well may lay down, could be TT, his range is pretty wide here and imo he was a pretty big donk although not a lot of experience with him, just the feeling I got. I figured on the turn, that if i call and hit on river I can get all his money and he most likely isn't folding given all the strength he is showing and if he is bluffing I don't want to scare him away. - Plus just the way the hand is playing out I seemed very suspicious. Although I guarantee if 9h doesn't come I fold turn.

SB had 7 6 (two pairs, Nines and Sevens) and LOST (-$99.90)

Ok so my thinking was this. We have a min raiser and a caller (both could have any 2 cards), then we have a 3 better to 6$ which seems like a strong hand although he probably should have raised it to 7 or 8$.

Anyways, so my reasons for the small 4 bet are because the 3 better most likely has a pretty strong hand but not one that can stand heat from a large 4 bet, and if the min raiser or the cold caller has QQ+ i want to make my raise look weak and give them the chance to 5 bet their hand. They both fold and back to 3 bettor who 5 bets minimum. At this point i think he for sure has a mediumish pair TT-QQ and wants to be able to fold to a 6 bet shove so i figure i better call and see the flop and hope they are all small cards so i can shove and he will call will his smaller pair, flop comes what appears to be favourable (because of his 5 bet) so i open shove figuring he's calling any over pair to the board. he calls and i see his hand and wipe my brow after realizing how close i came to getting cracked.

So all in all i had a great session, played really well, got stacked once but from what I recall it was unavoidable so shit happens. Ended up 2 buy ins so i'm pretty happy, after my initial heater I didn't pickup a ton of hands so there was minimal fluctuation in bling.

Played about 1100 hands last night and did fairly well $ wise but played excellent.

My main problem was losing a buy in at 400max vs an ultra insane player. The hand was actually pretty crazy and I had no idea what to do on flop.

Please tell me how terrible I am here. He had been raising a ton of hands huge and then this happens.

Once he shoves i have to be beat here, he has 0 fold equity so i kinda give up, i was getting a bit over 2.54 : 1 and am curious if i should have been calling here. I really rarely get into situations like this one and I’m pretty perplexed.

The very next hand i pick up NFD with 2 overs and shoved to his flop C bet and he calls with 99 on Jh6c5h board and brick. bye bye buy in :)

I still don't regret those plays so meh, shit happens.

I started out playing 4 x 100 max tables and they just seem so easy. If you ever recall before how i said the 100 max seemed so hard, I just figured out why they seemed so hard, it was because i had adjusted so much to the 50 max game that it seemed so different i couldn't re-adjust. My new thing will be whenever i am going to move up or down levels i must take at least 2 days off to get the pattern out of my head of how my current opponents play.

I have done pretty well in the 100max game this month thus far for a bunch of buy ins, in only a few k hands. Pretty pleased about that.

Didnt play 1 single hand of poker all weekend. BOOOOO

Indy was a pretty fun place. The race was kinda cool but nothing spectactular, just enjoyably fun the whole time (although i was pretty tired at some points).

Well the trip went down like this.

Left work at around 12:30pm Friday afternoon, dropped my car off at home, went and picked up another guy at his place and off we went, we decide to stop for lunch and as we are on our way we have our first mishap of the trip. We have 6 back up Tapes in our car (For servers) that the guy doesn't want to leave in there all weekend so we turn around drive back and drop them off. Then its off to the races, literally and metaphorically speaking.

We travelled to Indiana via the following route (See Route)

We hit the border in Sarnia/Port Huron in about an hour and stopped to pick up some expensive ass Grand Marnier and vodka for a friends boss.

Back on the road, Michigan is a suprisingly nice looking state when you are not driving through it's cities. Lots of wilderness and lakes etc, unfortunately 88.64% of its population are legally considered to have downs-syndrome and fill their cities with filth, crime and other unappealing vices, but i digress.

So we roll through MI and hit IN with a decent amount of stopping/slowing down due to traffic / construction. We roll into Indy at about 9:30ish and drive through the city oblivious to where we are but not so oblivious to how we do not exactly fit in in this specific neighbourhood. 4 young white kinds in a nice new car wasn't exactly the norm in our current location.

This city was starting out far more interesting then I had anticipated. As we drove through we asked a nice woman how to get to the speedway and she basically babbled for a bit without really conveying anything other then go the way we were currently going. We thanked her and off we went. At one point there is all black people in all cars in a run down neighbourhood for about 5km then out of nowhere we pass one street and there is all white people in a run down neighbourhood. It was like this specific street was the physical divider between races. Strange for me since where I’m from we pretty much have a well balanced dispersion of races throughout the city. No specific race seems to be located in any one specific area more then another.

So moving on, we get to our hotel after stopping a few more times for directions etc. Place seems pretty nice, luckily while we were checking in I noticed they had us down for 1 king size bed for 4 people. Hmmm. Sounds a little to friendly for my taste, luckily I brough an air mattress to sleep on the floor cause I hate hotel beds. We get the reservation changed around and we are setup now. Get to our room and they have a nice 37” LCD and a sweet ergonomic computer chair in the room to.

After unloading we go in search of some food. 12:30am at this point and the only place we find open that’s still serving food is Denny’s so that’s where we go. Get some ok food and back to the room for sleep.

Saturday: Wake up at 6:30am and get read for some racing, head back to what is becoming our headquarters (Denny’s) for BFast order way to much food that is covered in way to much grease and then hitup the speedway.

Watch the F1 Practice and then walked around for a few hours till qualifying started. Watched (Hamilton on Pole and his team mate Alonzo behind him) they never waivered from those spots and that is how they finished on Sunday. After qualifying we went back to hotel and a couple guys hit up the pool while I hit up the gym and one of the other guys slept, after the gym I hit up the pool with them for a few hours but unfortunately the pool was something like 86 degrees so It was way to warm and not nearly as refreshing as I had hoped. After that went to Target to get some socks and picked up a cool new bar wallet. Then went back to hotel and got ready and off for dinner. Met up with one of the guys brothers who lives in Indy and hit Chilis. Dinner was ok, nothing special, a Grilled chicken sandwich, but the beers were dirt cheap, big glass for 3$ (unfortunately u damn Americans have low % alcohol beer, but luckily for me I rarely drink anymore so it did the job) :D

After dinner hit up some go carting which was pretty fun, got killed in race 1 and did well in race 2. (apparently go carts are really made for 200+ lbs ppl. BOOOOOO.

Hit up a great lil spot in indy called Broadripple. Had a ton of bars, went to 3 of them. First sucked (due to frat boys and stuck up sorority girls) 2^nd one was semi skeezy (dirty) but was much more fun then first, and then hit up a dance club which was really fun. All in all had a great night, and again beers were dirty cheap which is always a plus.

Back to hotel to sleep at about 2am. Got up at 6:30am again Sunday and felt like shit. UGH, back to the batcave for Bfast (Denny’s) then to the races, watched some cool Prosche GT3 racing which was fun, lots of spin outs, and then walked around, went to Racing hall of fame which ruled only because of the A/C. After this went back to get our seats and watch the race. 1PM start time. Started right on time which was good, 1 crash on turn 1 where we were sitting so that was cool, other then that the race was ok but nothing special.

Im sick of typing so im about done this. Ill post some pics this week of the race.

Although maybe not because I just found out I’m confirmed in the TACOM golf tourney next Thursday so im gonna have to hit the range a lot this week.

Been working late this week so that me and a few friends from work can take off on friday at noonish. We are headed down to Indiana to see the U.S.G.P (Formula 1). I've always enjoyed watching F1 however never been a diehard fan or car who actually wins. My friends however were on the "race team" at UWO so they are all hard just thinking about it. (EW)

I was supposed to be taking a trip to Ottawa with a friend (he was going for business, I was to tag along for pleasure, however he bailed on me for some dirty froggish skank from montreal. haha WEAK.

So we are headed down there
for 3 days, be back late late sunday night. Should be a really good time.

So i got home around 4:30ish, played till almost 5, tables were 1 x 100NL 4x 50NL, i win a nice lil 50$ pot of shortty HU on the 100max table, and then flush over flushed some fool (i didnt overbet shove river cause i didn't think his hand was strong enough to call) apparently i was wrong haha. anyways, that helped. then a real trouble hand came up for me. AdJd flop TcTd9d, i made a big raise pre after 4 limpers, he limp calls me, he min c/r me, i call and lead for 1/2 pot on a Q turn, he calls, river bricks. SHIT, he shoves for 13$ into a 70+$ pot, I think to myself "wow did i ever fuck this hand up." and call. haha yes i called with no pair. i just had a brain dump and felt like fuck, for that much i hafta call but i knew what hand id see, (Have i mentioned how bad i am?) hahah

but luckily for me i had a decent quick session and finished up about 75$.

I was reading Rekrul's old blog which he created to just make fun of Bill Iveys blog. And wholy fuck, he posted some hands Bill (Lee Gaines) played against Elky HU, it's not to shocking to wonder why eklys rich and Bill couldnt complete his 2k-200k challenege, calling down with JT high for 1k bet. hahah to funny :D i was shocked. If this kid can compete at that level, i sure as hell need to as well.

Quick recap of the past weekish.

Played a decent number of hands last week, won a ton. got a nice 200$ bonus. moved up to 50max.

got DESTROYED friday night playing, lost 12 buy ins, and i played well to excellent for most of it, i did not tilt one buy in off, I just kept taking nasty rear enders repeated. But i digress. I'm sure i played some of the hands to aggressively as I am known to do but still :D

I have noticed one thing about my game, i have become a LAG instead of a TAG. i need to get back to TAGish stats. 20vpip - 13pfr, vs 26vpip - 18 pfr. so after getting owned friday night i jumped up to some 2/4NL cause im a fucking brain dead degenerate at this point and play well and win a little bit vs alot of short stacks, I'm going to be honest, 2/4NL seemed like i was playing .10/.25NL it was insane, table was so soft, it must be because all the shorties are literally uNL players and taking shots with their bankrolls (not me though) haha. at least i bought in for full buy in, they buy in for 100$ and lose it donking off on the flop with No pair no draw. gg ijits :)

Saturday myself, Scotty B, and 2 other buddies went to Sarnia (Point Edward Charity Casino) and played in a 60+5 $ Donkament. only played 5 hands the whole tourny i think, but i still finihsed 20 out of 50 entrants. My table was so soft, tons of limping rarely raising, so after i get a good feel for everyone i limp with A5s in the hijack, like 6 to the flop, A23, checked to me, i bet, and take it down. 100/200 - Next hand I play, QJo on the button, limper UTG terrible player (as everyone there is) i raise, folded back to him he calls, Flop comes Qx7d2h. He checks, i bet about 3/4 pot, and he min raises me, i shove for about 3k more and he calls, i shit my pants until cards are rolled, then i get really nervous, he's got A7o hahaha :) No ace, no 7. Turn J, river J. nh sir.

next hand i play is TT in late pos, blinds are 200/400, horrible player limps UTG+1 (2nd hand at table, on first hand he sits down and says how he has got no cards all tourny and min raises first hand, someone raises and he folds... nh sir hahah.
anyways, homo limps folded to me in late pos, i raise with TT, he shoves for not much more chips, i call, flop all low cards, i say to him on flop, im not gonna cheer for u on the turn card, but ill cheer for an ace on the river, turn card is a K, river Q :) Boooo, i have like 2.5k left. yuck.

i shove next hand, (K8 or something) everyone folds but buddy thinks forever and is pissed at me cause i raised his blind (AQ guy) and i say, come on, give me a break, u just won 3k from me. he says im going all in with any 2 next time u raise, i get dealt my cards next hand AKo, i open shove and guy 3 to my left says, this seems like agood spot for me to double up (he has been sitting on under 1k for the while time at the table, like 2 rounds. i say, yes, it sure is a good time. he calls, i tell buddy he has to call but hes a coward adn folds. caller shows ATo, flop TK2r, turn A, river T. OUCH. i end up getting moved when it gets down to 2 tables, i hold out as long as i can trying to pick up a non 3,7o hand, get Q2s UTG and shove for a bit more then the blind at this point, sb and bb call, AKK,2,9, i say hmm my queen high might be good, sb turns of 2,9o. UGH. haha :) gg me.

me and myf riend scotty b swaped 25% of each other but he finished 9th top 5 paid. boo. his A9 is apparently and easy call for A5o when he puts 5x bb in haha but seriously, we suck :D

my WSOP sat 220$ is today (in a few min actually) i hope i win.

Played some party BJ today (Rigged) then saw they have 3 card poker YIPPPY my fave table game. UH OH Bankroll :) luckily i started CRUSHING and hit trip 6s and a ton of pairs on my 5$ bets and won a few hundred. casion pays 25:1 on trips but party pays 30:1 SAWEET.

played some 3/6NL today HU vs a terrible 1/4 stack player, stacked him, another SS joins i satck him, and continue to curhs ppl and win about 600$ in like 40 hands. nice :D i love it when ppl shove with underpairs to the board when i have TP.

Ok so i'm done here, after my big -12 buy in downswing on friday im back up actually a bit from where i started the weekend. gg me :)

Quick recap of the past few days.

Friday: Went to some patio bars downtown for a drink or 2. My friend won 2 Muskoka chairs and a Corona Umbrella. Chairs have some decent value and considering he just bought a house last year and is borrowing my old patio set these should be a nice edition to the backyard.

Saturday: Driving range (got a membership at the range for 130$ for me and my wife (Total)) which is a pretty sick price for all u can hit all season. Has already got my game 10x more consistent.

Went to a wedding in the evening, it was a nice wedding but one of those different "less expensive" weddings. No real food, just ordeurves and small midnight snack table, plus had to pay for drinks, It's getting kind of annoying that everyone keeps going cheapskate style for their weddings when we dropped the cost of a nice car on ours. about 150 ppl @ 100$ / plate + all the other B.S. that goes with it, dress, rings, decorations, open bar, limo, tuxs etc etc. all told something close to 30 dimes i think it was, needless to say when u spend so much on a wedding you would hope that people would put some $ into theirs as well, but alas i guess my standards are to high. Anyways, it was a pretty fun reception none the less, plus free pops so that was good :D i only spend 60$ on drinks for other people and i got lots of free pops, that evens everything out hahaha.

Sunday: Got up normal time and got finished packing for our camping trip, we headed to The Pionery, Got a spot right on the river (after some finagelling) and as i'm setting up camp it starts to rain, NEWMAN! anyways, we had a good time camping and only stayed one night, it was mainly a trial to see how our dog would do with ppl/wildlife there, she did pretty well so we now know we can do a longer trip and we should be good. I'll post some pics later, only thing i regret is not brining my rod cause i saw some big ass fishies in the water.

Came home monday and played some poker. Went really well, won a few buy ins (like 6 or 7) and got my roll to over 1k, played in a 6$ rebuy to the 220$ WSOP qualifier and won it, top 4 spots paid, only top 2 get seats. WOO HOO for me. So next sunday i gots to play that, i would be the happiest lil man on earth if i won a seat into the WSOP. SOOOOOO excited. hahaha, i'm a sad sad man, mainly becuase the wsop started and i'm not there.

One good thing about the wsop is the amount of new bloggers that pop up for the series, always makes work more intersting.

so anyways, in total i won like 420+ on monday.

Tuesday: Played 1 table of 50NL while waiting for my friend to pick me up to head to the gym and scooped 1/2 a buy in at that level. came home, watched some TV then played a bit more, won another 2ish buy ins at 25NL and have the roll sitting at 1100. +220$ seat. I'm gonna move up to 50NL now and hopefully that goes really well, I think if i drop below 1k in the session i'll drop back down to 25NL and get back up to 1100$ then reshoot.

I played some of the worst poker in a very very long time last night,

I paid everyone off, made horrible bets, worse checks, even worse calls, just every aspect of my game was bad. what makes it worse is that if i was playing well I would have been up 4 buy ins instead of down 4. So stupid, flopped 3 sets over the course of the night to stack 3 guys.

This hand was a really tough spot imo. Villain is a good player. fiarly TAG If he doesn't check the flop behind me i win a big pot, if he does, i shit my pants in fear of flopped set of aces or kings and have to slow the eff down.

other other sports news from ESPN8 (aka THE OCHO). I'm getting a team together for a Dodge Ball tournament coming up in 2 Saturdays. Coed, My wife wants to play, a few of my buddies are gonna play, just need to find 2 decent chicks to play, if they arn't to hard to look at that wouldn't hurt either.

I played in a tourny about 6 months ago and thought it would be gay, however it ended up being awesome, and very difficult. We played it at an indoor beach volleyball place, they took nets down and i loved it cause you could dive around without as much injury etc.

Should be fun but this one is just in a gymnasium.

Come out and watch, all side bets accepted. C.G. is decently avg at like 140ish, i can go for a 190 one game followed up by a 109 the next game :) other 2 are unknowns to me. We shall crown the victor tongiht.

Well, the wife was working all night last night and since I was still fairly sick I used that as an excuse to leave our pig sty for one more day instead of doing what any good husband would do and clean it up….

Played a medium lengthed session of about 3 hours 4 tabling 100max, I told myself If I dropped 2 buy ins I’d drop down to 50max and beat around down there, my 50max stats are pretty sick at about 7.3 PT bb/100 over last 25k hands, not to shabby if I do say so myself, my 100 max not so spectacular hhahaha. At around 2.5 over 25k hands. Ugh. oh well, as long as I keep playing well they should rocket up, plus a heater is just around the corner, I can feel it :D I forgot to tell you all im psychic? Oh, my bad, I’m Pyschic!

So last nights session went very well. Again this game just seems so damn easy when you don’t get unbelievably unlucky. Got no real super crazy hands, bluffed off some money in what appread to be a good spot but I guess the guy musta rivered top 2. Flopped set of deuces in a reraised pot semi deep stacked 330bb pot. Wow, talk about donktastic. Don’t you love drawing virtually deal buddy, :)

Ok, so I eneded the weekend with 23-25k hands, can’t remember exactly, and even from where I had started on Thursday afternoon, which is down 650$ from my high point in the weekend. It really is astounding I still have a B.R. right now, I had more KK vs AA, QQ vs, KK or AA this weekend, then in the last 6 months combined. Very strange. Not to bad just cause I know there isn’t much I can do about it. The real painful ones was when I had AA, KK, or QQ and boards like Tc8d2d and we get it all in and I loose to sets. These really aren’t even that bad because they played it well, and I don’t think I’m ever getting away from big over pairs with 100bb or less, just not enough info, mainly beucase of reasons like this.

Villain is complete retard.

I raise to 5$ on button, villain in SB min raises me, I min raise him for shits and giggles, he 4 bet min raises me. I call with AA. Effective stacks were like 75$ Flop, Qh5h2c. He bet1/2 pot, I shove, he insta calls with 85o. gg me. River 8. :D This exact scenario happened soo much. A few times, got AA in against KK only to lose to a turned set of kings. (those don’t bother me at all, especially when it’s a decently nice guy that it happens against cause we both played it fine and he got lucky to win, so no biggie)

Other poopy situations, 3 betting with AKs and Ac3c calling, and getting it all in on an Axcxc. Luckily the majority of these situations arise when my opp has far less then 100bb, (I wonder why they don’t have full stacks… hahah lol) So I have lost a TON of 100bb – 150bb pots as a huge favourite, if these situations happened with 100+bb stacks I would officially be broke right now.

END RANT :)

One thing that I have added to my arsenal which has (or will soon) make me a ton of quid ($) is the min raise. I for so long despised the min raise and never ever used it. But now realize against every opponent it is vital to maximizing your expectation. When you flop sets you absolutely much use the min raise (especially on the turn) to pot commit your opponents and make them feel that they have to call ur river bet. Your goal with it is to not scare your opponent out while getting as much money in as possible.

When an opp fires a 17$ bet on turn and he has 70$ left, shoving on turn allows him to fold his 1 pair hands so often, so by min raising (bad opponents won’t fold cause they suck, and good opponents often won’t fold cause they hate minraisers, hahah) you get them to build a big pot so they feel obligated to call off all their money on the river. This is a glorious finding for me :) It helps to get all the money in against opponents who fold to big raises with 1 pair.

So I think since I’ve been getting a bit unlucky lately I’m gonna move back down to 50 max for awhile, I still am playing excellent (minus about 1 hour yesterday when I was curled up in the corner crying for my mommy) :)

Sorry, I really am not a huge fan of complaining endlessly about shitty spots but I needed to vent just a bit so please don’t hold it against me, unless you really want to, then go ahead.

I can’t complain about getting unlucky without complaining about getting lucky 2 can i?

Ok, so I got lucky in 3 spots that I recall this weekend.

QxQc vs AA no club, villain was hella tight, on turn (of low board) he bets big again and I type “I have to be beat here” and proceed to shove ahhaha I’m such a donkey, river CLUB! Thank you lucksack.

AK vs KK a couple times, (but luckily im not really that far behind in this spot)

One time was really gross, when I turned boardway on him.

That’s about it, flopped 1 set that got paid off by no pair no draw in 4000 hands yesterday. EW. I think staying close to even at end of every session shows how well I was playing overall. Not necessarily making great plays but good solid poker, I love overplaying hands and getting paid off vs really shitty hands :)

What a sick disgusting weekend.

Playing pretty close to 20k hands since thursday. Since im still sick as hell i had nothing to do, tv is boring so i just played alot. Broke damn near even on the weekend.

Had some of the sickest stretch of beats ive ever had im my poker career. Nobody wants to hear so i won't bore u.... for now :)

Sorry for no substantial posts the last few days (and I’m obv speaking to the 1 person that reads this) :D

Woke up feelin like a pile of shiza today. UGH.

Def cold time.

Anyways, poker related, What a crazy ass first full day of 100max and I honestly couldn’t be happier if I won 10 million dollars.

10 hands in get dealt AA in BB, avg bad player raises to 4$ on button (150$ Eff), SB goes all in for 60$, I insta shove for 150ish tryin to look like a squeeze with a mediocre hand, button insta calls with JJ, you know the drill, J flop, see ya monster pot :D

So I brushed that off and proceeded to get beat out of another 400ish (around 500 total at low point). I was down 300$ on 2 tables, so sick because the tables were sooo soft. Last night felt like spew in so many ways, but especially on flops, I got a ton of excellent starting hands, however, everytime I got a big pair AA (probably 6 times besides the one I got cracked on), I raised, and it got folded around. KK, QQ, JJ, TT, an overcard would flop. One player who I ended up following around all night cause he was such a loose player who tried to steal pots no matter what was on my left and stole a ton of money from me by flopping pair of kings with 3 kicker kinda shit against QQ, multiple times, once he stopped hitting his hands he was pretty profitable calling big pot bets with no pair no draw kinda thing.

Damn it, I didn’t save a single hand I played with him. Oh well.

After awhile I closed most of my tables I was on and opened new ones and that seemed to do the trick. Started going on a mini heater. Won 2 pots with AK high all in on flop and AQ high all in on flop. People are so sick. Haha.

Made a couple (what appreaed to be good bluffs, but got called by 77 on TQxKx board. I raise pre, he calls, he c/c my flop bet, I check behind turn, rired ¾ pot on river, he calls with 77. Note to self……

So all in all, I made a big come back to finish down 10$ for the session, which really does feel like a huge win. I settled down a lot the 2^nd half of my session, got more confidence back, and wasn’t thinking, Ok, so I have KK how much will I lose on this A high flop now :D hahah. (bad thinking). So I played fairly well throughout the session. Got a ton of great notes, I 5 tables for close to 4.5 hours so I got a few k hands in, my BB/100 went down the shitter for 100max though, haha, from around 5 to 1.5 or something. Not much I could do really, (well a couple spots I could have done better but all in all in happy, but still much room for improvement). My table selection is still excellent which is really the best way to be a big winner a poker, if you don’t us PAHUD or table selection software you immediately have to get it, you can tell within 10-15 min using PAHUD if you’re at a good table or not without having to pay to much attention while multitabling.

Added lots of fishies to my Buddy list for future plunder & Pillaging. =)

Ok, probably enough for the night, I may go back to playing 3x 50max and 1x 100 max till I get back to 1400 again, then take another shot at 4x 100 max and hope I get winner. It’ll have to happen eventually and im ma just keep on doing it till it does happen.

Ok, obv i said I probably wasn't playing poker last night but since i'm a degenerate, i did.

Played 2x 50max and 2x 100max. was up a bit, then down a whole bunch after making 2 horrible calls.

First one went like this, KTs, flop top pair, bet each street, he rivers a 4 card straight, he open shoves, i insta call like a fuckin retard (his shove was almost pot sized, and he hadn't started with 100bb). ARG so stupid, i fold that all day long, WTF was i thinking. Next hand, i had already reloaded, 88, i raise, he insta shoves, And again, anytime this happens you 100% know they have a big pair right? haha, i think for a min and say, "Ok, lets gamble" and call, obv i don't improve and his QQ wins. Dumbest plays of the night by far.

Closed the shit down, went and watched the leafs get destroyed. What a joke the leafs goaltending is :D haha. makes me want to puke.

Went back up and just started playign 1x 100max. Played well, got ahead about half a buy in, then lost a bunch back to suckout, then started 4 tabling. (Yes i was calm and no i was not on tilt). I played well and won back all my previous losses + and ended up about 170$ on the night.

This morning i had to wait 20 min for the wife to get ready, so i started 4 tabling 100max, things didn't go very well, one hand, weak player limps in MP, i raise on button, folded around, he shoves for about 50bb, Obv he is on a steal with a weak pair, I call with KQcc, flop (9xTx6x), turnx, river x, his 44 holds :D NEWMAN! hahah.

lost a couple more pots to raises after I Cbet and missed flop. I do notice you get played back at here 1000x more at 100max then at 50max when people have smallish pairs. if they hold 55, flop comes 929, they think that 55 is the nutz, (Yes Fuel we all know YOU think 55 is the nutz) haha :) you cbet your KQ or AJ etc, and they make huge raises, Alot of the time at 50max I would check my big pairs on flops like that because i know if they didn't hit they arn't paying me off, so i want them to catch up a little, but at 100max its probably best to just bet your overpairs on non scary paired boards since so many ppl like to play back with small pairs.

BR around 1300 on party right now.

Things are going well, playing really well (minus a few tough spots). Just gotta keep it up, if i get to 2500 my goal is to start cashing out all earnings over 2.5k to pay for random shit like, car repairs, etc etc.

So that was my night, the meds still had me absolutely exhausted so it wasn't to fun. I hope it gets better today.

I Was diagnosed with Adult ADHD yesterday (no such thing as just ADD anymore).

I have been back and forth to the doctors for the past 2 months or so, with meetings, tests etc. Got some medication and wholy shit, Do i feel fucked up today. and i don't mean happy go lucky fun yay fucked up, i mean, I don't feel like myself fucked up. Kinda worries me, but i'm sure there is just an adjustment period to the meds. (I hope thats it)

Dunno why I'm telling the internet this, maybe I just feel like it damn it.

Dunno if i'll play poker tonight, I was gonna go to the gym but now that I feel like this, highly unlikely.

Doing well still, played a 50max session last night, won over 2 buy ins. Later on I took a small shot at 100max by playign 2x 100, 2x 50. Had a tough time adjusting to the new opponents aggression, but once i got more comfortable i settled in fine, plus getting AA all in pre against 99 helps :) So i dug out of a 1.5 buy in loss to finish up a solid 20 $ :D Pleased with my play, I def am worried about losing 2 buy ins at 100max and goin on tilt, so i may scale it back to 1x 100max and 3x 50 max for now, we'll see.

The weekend was eventful and semi poker filled.

Friday night, Played about 2 hours of poker, won a bit, and watched The Prestige. Excellent movie, very entertaining, and went to bed at like 10:30 or 11ish, I was just flat out exhausted.

Saturday, woke up at the normal 7am ick. Played a few hours of poker, won a couple buy ins, then started getting ready for a fun filled day of Paintball. Yes, that’s right, outdoor paintball in the winter. It was a slow start because as per usual, 50% of the people were late to our meeting point, so I went to Walmart to look for some anti fog spray, which obv they had none of, so I just went ahead and bought my own mask, which was a godsend.. I only fogged up 2 rounds out of the 12ish rounds we played. I also learned a good trick to keep the fog out, place snow on your eyes and forehead to cool your head down before putting your mask on. It worked really well, I passed on my new found tip to some team mates and off to the ass kickin races we went. It was pretty much a disaster, I think the other team only one 2 rounds. We had some military folk on our team which helped. Plus we had a few ppl that had played at this place before 2 which is a lot a huge plus. Anyways, it was a fun/ fairly expensive day. Started about 1:30, went to about 5:30. It was about an hour drive outside the city so we all had to get our asses back home, shower/change and meet up at Robinson Hall (bar/restaurant) downtown, for dinner. Oh quick note, this was all for a friends Bachelor party. About 20 guys came to Paintball, 13-14ish came for the night on the town. We had some good food, watched the leafs kick some Philly ass, and had a lot of drinks, our bill as you can imagine was close to 600$, but luckily for us, one of our friends knew a manager there so we got something like 25% off, plus they gave us all kinds of onion blooms and nachos and stuff for free. (THANK YOU ROBINSON HALL, I HEART FOOD, especially when its free.)

So we were planning on going somewhere else after dinner, but ended up going to the bar upstairs (The Thorny Devil). Had a good time, had some drinks, had some fun etc, it was semi low key but had a great time, the bar was packed, the Bachelor was drunk as shit, and I got to get away from a couple of the less appealing members of our group, so all in all, a great day/night. Thanks Jay.

Sunady, wifey wasn’t working so we hung out, I got up early which is unfortunately a trait of mine wether I’m out till 3am, or go to bed at 9pm. Felt like a pile of S%$#. Played some poker, won a couple more buy ins, wife got up, we went and watched some recorded TV shows, then went out shopping for a bit so she could pick up some organization crap for her crafts / scrap booking stuff. Went to the inlaws for dinner, Turkey/Stuffing – which I was kinda confused by seeing as how it’s February. ( I think it’s cause it’s my brother in – laws favourite food. BOOOOOO. )

Anyways, dinner was ok, I was still beyond exhausted. Went home, watched some TV. Then Amazing Race All Stars came on, so I bailed and went upstairs to play some more… yes u guessed it, Poker.

Poker has been freakin fantastic the past week.

Had a bad day to start the week, dropped about 250ish, then transfered 300 from neteller, and am stilling on a tastey 1k on party now, Gonna just keep pluggin away at 50max till i get 2k, actually, probaly when i hit 1400, ill play 4x 100max and if i play well and get winner i'll just stay there and play 100max, You can earn a decent amount at that level, really 50max isn't to bad either, for part time jobish, Im up close to 1200 in 18kish hands at this level, runnin at about 5.5PTbb / 100 at the moment. Pretty excited. Just gotta make sure I don't bother playing higher then i'm ready to play.

I have a feeling this is the shot where I go all the way.

Well, needless to say, I’m the luckiest man alive (maybe next to Phil Laak).

Insane hand 1: After the shove I decided what the hell, lets gamble, There is a slight chance that all 3 of them have AK or AQ from the way the hand played out. Also very slight chance of under pairs. Needless to say, the odds of this hand playing out the way it did have to be sooo slim (including the flop/turn cards) The only thing that would have been better would be if QQ guy rivered a Q :D Who else gambles in this spot? Do I have a problem? Hhaha.

Stupid hand 2: Wow, did I play this hand very very poorly, Bet when I’m ahead, and c/c when I’m behind. DUHHHHH! ISAP. I felt like I was beat on turn, but for some reason, (oh ya, now I remember) His stats were like 60/35/3.5 AF over 60 hands, It felt like I was beat but couldn’t make my finger click the fold button. I Have to remember, even Ultra Lags get hands.

I’ll post some more hands later if I get a chance. I played really well for my first 2 hour session, was up almost 2 buy ins, then my brain went dead and gave it all back from bad plays, and bad calls. I was playing 8 tables at this point, so I’m thinking my poor decision in that regards is what started my downward spiral. I play best at 4 tables over hours, not 8. REMEMBER THAT IJIT!.

I ended session basically even. Went downstairs and watched 1 / 2 of the leaf game, made some gourmet dinner action (Chicken Al la Franchesca I think its called). MMMM. Pan fried chicken with a lemon, white wine sauce. Sooooo good.

Went back upstairs and played another session, which is where the posted hands came from, all in all pretty crazy. Ended up 5.5 buy ins on the session. Pretty sweet.

So basically I’m thinking that means I’m the best 50max player on earth? Haha lol.

So many ppl are doing challenges these days, and I love it, it’s very encouraging.

I may do my own challenges but instead of doing 1 huge one, maybe do 5 small ones, so the goals are a lot easier to reach in turn keeping me motivated.

Like 200$ to 1k at 50max, already at almost 700$. So I’ll just do that, then I’ll do 1k to 1.5k at 50max, then I’ll do 1.5k to 3k at 100max. and so on and so forth. Nothings set in stone, maybe I’ll just do all challenges at 50max level. Who knows.

Or maybe I’ll do a HDTV challenge :) meaning I have to earn x dollars so I can buy a certain HDTV and all cables etc required :) Including an HDTV PVR. I only have normal PVR right now.

One thing I found VERY odd last night was, in session 1, every table I sat at had all my opps at 50 VPIP and like either 0-10% PFR or 25-50% PFR. So strange. It was beautiful, I love finding great tables like that. Too bad I broke even. My 2^nd session I had a very difficult time finding loose tables, it sucked, I moved tables probably close to 10 times. I probably should invest in some table selection software (but 30$/month) bah, we’ll see. I’m sure it will pay for itself, but still.

Well, tonight was basically INSANE.

won a 250$ pot at 50max, :) won another monster pot with All in on flop i had gutter ball royal flush draw, many other things, made 2-5 bad plays/calls, but other then that played fairly well, and go so lucky it was pretty much ridiculous.

i was trying to find the pic of my car to post, but maybe it's still on my camera. Its from my wedding day with me and my wife standing beside my car. p.s. the car looks almost as beautiful as you hunny...... .PUKE! haha lol j/k. She doesn't even read this...luckily.

Last night was a good time (Minus a bunch of shitty walking I had to do, ok, I’ll explain).

Since my wonderful ex car (it’s still my car currently, but we are definitely fighting) won’t start, or move, I got the wife to give me a ride to work yesterday. I only work about 3 km from home in an West direction, so it’s not far at all. Well, I decided I was gonna be good and walk to pick my dog up from doggy day care after work (ya that’s right, I said it haha). Anyways, it’s about 2-3km from my work as well, but in a North direction., needless to say, I walked for over 1.5 F#%*ING hours last night, and if you know me, you know I HATE walking, my knee starts to hurt, both of my ankles start to kill (this Is all stemming from the abuse I did to myself through my younger years, Skateboarding, Snowboarding, basically any kind of sport you could think of. I make it home at about 6:15 after leaving work at 4:30pm. What a disaster this was. Well it did seem to get me very excited to be at home, I had lots to do tonight, play poker, watch The Departed and watch, HSP ep 6. So first things first, it was poker time.

Put 300$ back onto PP from neteller (wow is it ever nice not living in a hypocritical dictatorship. :D OH CANADA, WE STAND ON GUARD FOR THEE,!!!!!! But I digress. Was on 2+2 a lot yesterday, reviewing hands, discussing shit with ppl, and for some reason, yesterday was one of those step days, where everything just clicks and you start to think a little bit differently about certain things. I’ve only had 1 or 2 of these situations before, but they have really made my game improve dramatically, and I think that this will be another one of those. I was asking a High Stakes player that I talk to sometimes some questions about my thought process on a couple things and he was saying that I’m thinking correctly for the most part, which makes me pretty happy. The few other guys that posted in regards to a hand I posted were thinking the weak passive approach to the hand and I thought the opposite, It’s nice to have a top player confirm that I am doing it right. The best part was, If you asked me last week about the same hand, I would have agreed to check/call river. Ok basically here is the hand.

KQo UTG 6max, 50$NL, I raise to 3$, I raise larger now because people will call no matter what, so when I have a hand I play, I try to play it for big pots, this is the worst hand I will play UTG so no complaining about Fold Pre, because I just won’t be doing it. Anyways, I get one called from CO or BTN. Opponent is very passive, called 3 streets with Aces on non threatening board (only notes on him). Flop QhTs7h. I bet 4.5 into a 7$ pot, I was told, bet more on flop, (which I normally do, so unsure why I bet that much, I 99% of the time bet 5.50+ here. He calls, Turn Kc. I bet 11$, he calls, River 9c

Pot is 38$ - I have 26$ left.

My options are,

a) Check and fold to a shove,

b) Check and call a smallish bet,

c) Check and call a shove,

d) Shove all in myself,

e) Bet a small amount.

The option I used to default to is Check / Call to a) induce bluffs from worse hands. I used to think that this was correct play, The reason I don’t think it’s good anymore is the following.

You check river with 26$ left, your opp goes all in for 26$ more, 64$ in pot, you are officially calling, you will be shown a Jack here a lot of the times, occasionally when you check your opp will bluff with worse hand then yours and you will call and win whatever amount he bet. (not always an all in) but most of the time worse 2 pair will just check behind. Now the way I think it much better to play the hand is, you go all in on River, It is shocking how often I get called by worse 2 pair, or just 1 pair on these boards at low limits, people think you’re bluffing so much. So since they will call with worse hands, I decided that going all in myself, will always get a J to call, and often get worse hands to call, giving me more expectation then c/c. I don’t want to bother doing the math, but I’m almost positive it’s more +EV.

Anyways, that’s what I think.

Just to prove it, Mr passive AA boy insta calls river with AKo. This obviously can only be beneficial when you have a smallish amount of money left compared to the pot, you don’t want to be doing this with a lot of money behind.

So that was the only really interesting hand I can remember from last night, There were others, but nothing that stands out. I won 3 buy ins in my 1-1.5 hour session so I was pretty happy, I was playing well, making good reads etc.

Watched The Departed last night, and God Damn is that movie amazing. WOW!!!!! SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOD. I highly recommend. Great actors, awesome story, just really well made. It’s kinda like a newish Donnie Brasco with some more twists.

I won’t say much more, don’t want to spoil it.

Watched HSP last night as well. Hmm, this episode = BORING, no interesting hands, I really do enjoy Sammy so much, seems like such a nice guy. Same with Eli, Barry as well but not to the same extent. I think it’s more of where they are form that makes them the way they are. People from Lebanon and Middle Eastern areas often seem to be far more outgoing and easy to get along with, without knowing them very well. (Sterotype?) haha.

JacksRok – aka Thromdog mentioned how funny it was to see Brian perk
right up as soon as they started talking about Internet poker? Haha lol, Funny stuff. 
It was weird how quiet Brian and Paul were at the table.  They both seemed very shy
(although it could be the cameras or the fact that they are playing with the top poker
players in the world.  Anyways, showed no interesting hands. Wasn’t a great episode,
I hope SB stays on when Ivey comes on the show.  That will be highest rating of
any poker show EVER on the face of the earth haha.

I played – 3.45 hours of poker last night, That is to say I didn’t play at all.

So my wonderful foreign hunk of crap still won’t start. I didn’t actually do anything to try to fix it last night but it still should get better on its own right? It probably just has a cold or something.

Went to the gym after work yesterday, had a good work out (Thnx for picking me up and driving my ass Cyrus.

So got home around 6:30, 15 min later my old man shows up and we go play some pool at palasads, Wasn’t to bad, had some dinner there, Ham and cheese type sandwich with onions in it, it didn’t taste very spectacular and it was greasy as all hell, ew. Anyways, came home, wife was back from her Test at Toyota (Oh how sweet would her getting that job be) :) 32$/hr, and I wouldn’t be the only baller in the house then, maybe she would finally let me get a 42” LCD… probably not though haha. But I digress. I got home, I wanted to go upstairs and watch The Departed, but she wanted to watch Las Vegas, so I was cool with that. It was a mediocre episode, nothing special. God damn Samantha is hot :)

Supposed to be playing poker tonight, but not likely since I won’t be able to make it downtown since I am sans car. Hmm that sucks. I plan on watching HSP ep 5 tonight (which I downloaded right after it aired, turns out some dick head just relabeled episode 4 as ep5. so that was annoying. Anyways, gonna try to download new ep, and watch The departed as well. Possibly throw some poker into that mix.

So if anyone hears about me killing my wife, it’s not true…..(or is it) Needless to say, I was very excited last night about Prison Break, Heroes (especially) and then High Stakes Poker. 9pm rolls around and I turn on 287 (GSN) and voila…… but wait, black screen with purple box stating I do not get this channel, my brain slowly starts to fire up, you can smell a hint of smoke throughout the house, the fire alarm starts to go off (BEEP BEEP BEEP BEER, BEER) Woops, beer on the brain, sorry… Then it hits me, My dirty (insert expletive here) of a wife cancelled GSN and the Leaf channel…. The tears well in the corner of my eyes and I realized that my rein as the man or “boss” in my house is officially over. All I can think of is (YOU ARE NOW OFFICIALLY MARRIED). End life here.

Ok so obviously I was kinda annoyed, but luckily I can d/l the episodes online pretty quickly and watch them so it’s really not the end of the world….luckily for her :D

I lost 5 buy ins last night and damn, it sucked.

I got into a couple tough spots like, set over set, TTT on KJT board, vs KKK. He played it really well, I really didn’t even think about that I was beat here.

2 x flush over flushed… BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

The first one I should have gotten away from it cause I knew I was beat. 73ss, on 5s6s2xTsKx. He has J4ss. He definitely played it very tricky until the river. He didn’t bet on any street, just called my bets and checked to me, he checks turn and river so I 100% have to bet for value here, I bet pot $11.11 He shoves for 40$ more, I call, GG ME :) I was fairly certain he had a bigger flush but unfortunately there are so many donks down here that I can’t laydown flushes unless there are a few ppl in a pot with a ton of action in front or unless we are deep stacked, I just can’t do it for 100bb. Live and learn.

Got into a couple other tough spots, played bad at one table, over played some hands I shouldn’t have, mainly because I was playing against a friend I was trying to bust haha.

One hand, I get 99 on Button, raise to 2.50, BB re raises to 6$, I call, flop, 5c,7c,8d. He leads for around pot sized bet, I shove for 50$. He insta calls, KK is good, nh sir. That isn’t a BAD play, but it is one that only gets called by hands that beat me really, so I guess it is a bad play. Oh well, I’m gonna take the next couple days off poker, gonna go shoot some pool with my ol man tonight, then poker at friends house wed, then hockey Thursday night, (by taking a few days off poker I mean, online poker obv.)

What a fucking nutz day today.

dropped 600$ during a 1 hour tilt session, played some horrible 200max, (stupid) and made a good play with 1 pair, double gutter ball and a flush draw on the turn, guy called me with an underpair for his stack, and i missed. boooooo. like 50000 outs.

So, dropped 600, my account, was down to 250$, went for dinner to my sisters with my mom (who is visiting from out of town) my bro, and sister inlaw, and my nephew, it was ok, i'm still exhausted from last ngiht so i was semi grumpy. Came home, with a clean mind state and won about 5 1/2 buy ins back at 50max, so i'm back on tract at least, Dropping that large a % of my roll was stupid/painful, but i recovered with grace and dignity instead of my usualy, fuck it, ill jsut piss it all off now haha.

lets hope tommorow, i can stay on track and play really well. This is a really easy game (50max) not many tough decisions to make, so i think i may just plan on beating up on it for the next month or 2. and cash out everything i earn over 1k for awhile.

I'm at 6.0 PT BB/100 on 50max on party right now, over 15k hands. (3kish of them coming today).

all in all im pleased with the way in which my day ended. I made alot of mistakes in game selection and limit selection earlier today but hey, if you make a mistake, as long as you learn from it before its to late, thats ok right?
i'll keep telling myself that.

Took off from work a bit early today cause i hurt my back last sunday playign hockey (just tweaked it a bit reaching behind me for the puck) and aggrevated it last night playign again.

So i came home and had a crazy but good session.

started out bluffing a ton of spots, most were good spots, but one guy couldn't lay down AK when he shoulda, but thats ok, won some nice pots from playing ultra aggro. ended up down about 2 buy ins, then opened a 100max, missed my OESD all in on flop, and lost a buy in there, but alas, i closed 100 max (those are teh spots i normally go on monkey tilt and piss everything away) but i stuck to 50max and opened 2 more tables, played solid as hell, and won everything back plus over a buy in more. So i'm fairly pumped..

Im just trying to get used to some of the lesser used features in poker tracker right now, so i can get better at analyzing my sessions more.

This is a strange game we play, how it can so easily make you feel invincible when you are playing well and running well at the same time. The confidence it gives you is quite remarkable. I don't really let the downs get me down very much anymore, but I still enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling I get when i win consitently for an extended period of time. Every night I go to bed and just think about how good it feels. (endorphin Junkie?) The thing about poker is, if you play well, you will "run well "so much more often then if you play bad. When you play bad, it invariably makes people feel that they also run bad. I really think what Phil Ivey says is true. "There is no such thing as running bad, There is only playing bad." I always feel that when i play well, i run well, but in reality one stems form the other, in that, if I play the correct hands in the correct way, mathematically things will come up heads (meaning It will all work out), if i play the wrong hands in the wrong way bad things will happen. I've read alot of posts on 2+2 lately about how poker is a game of accidents.

I agree with alot of what they say and it has made me think about the past couple months. I've played probably my A game 80% of the time and at the levels i play regualrly 25max -100 max im really killing the games, then ill hit up the 5/10NL game and directly piss all profits away. This is by far my biggest leak and must be avoided at all costs. I get into the mind frame to play those games by worrying about money. What i should be doing is worrying about correct decisions and let the rest take care of itself. My goal is to eventually end up playign 5/10NL game regularly, mainly because I want to be able to easily make more in 1 year of poker then I do at my job, but to keep my job so I don't have to pay taxes on those winnings. I'm 99% certain no matter how much u make gambling in canada, you do not have to pay taxes if you have a full time day job (that is not gambling).

anyways, i digress. I got off track from my original post and have now lost all interesting / insightful things to say (that is assuming anything i have ever said is insightful in the first place.)

So moving on, Poker last night was excellent. Played a short session, probably around 350 hands, booked a little over 2 buy in win, up around, 1300 this week, which is pretty nice since i have played mostly 50max tables.

I'm fairly certain I'm going to join cardrunners as a full member for 6 months. I was just going to do the min membership for 10$/month but don't really feel like using my cc, i'm thinking about cancelling it. This way I can pay 100$ membership fee, + 25$/month in one lump sum, for min of 6 months, so 250$ for 6 months, should be worth it if it helps me get 1bb/100 more, should pay for itself in a matter of a week :) obviously this knowledge i hope to learn can't be quantified in BB/100 necessarily.

I am pushing a lot of hands on the river that I would try to value bet in the past and getting callers. It is making poker a hell of a lot easier. and my earn is going through the roof.

River and insignificant Spade.

I shove for 35$ into a 16$ pot, hoping to look like a bluff, he thinks and thinks and calls with AsKs.

I really am unsure if the push on river is good or not. It obviously worked here, but is it the best option? It probably is because i often will bet around 12$ into that pot and a) just get called by a flush cause of the paired board, or have someone fold. It is highly unlikely that anyone is folding that rivered flush to my push so I mine as well maximize my expectation and shuve right? and I may get called by AJ + here also cause it kinda looks like a bluff right?

I just realized exactly how important table selection is (Most people can recite the line “Use good table selection” but I have a feeling most players don’t use it, and if they do, a lot of them apply it incorrectly (imo).

I am faaaar from an expert but from what I just realized is that my goal when choosing a table should be to select one that has the majority of players that are too loose. Most of the time I would just sit at a table and play until I was done playing, or find one fish and sit at the table no matter who else was there. Using PT and PAHUD I have been able to more quickly gauge which tables will be more profitable and which will be less. If I notice a table and there are 2 TAGS or even Tight passive players, I will consider leaving, if there is 3 of them, I will with 99% certainty uncheck post blind and leave when the round is done. The more of players that consistently play too many hands at a table will directly increase the amount of $$$ you make no matter what. (Long term). Obviously people can get lucky and you will lose sometimes, but when you win, you will win much more. I think this has been a big reason for my recent success over the past couple months in NL cash games. TABLE SELECTION.

I have looked into getting a table selector program but I cant yet justify 30-50$ / month when I can play 20 hands and get the same feel for it. Maybe when I move up to higher stakes (200max and up)

Wasn't planning on playing last night, however i was able to jump on for a bit. YAYYYY.

Played for 6 minutes right before dinner, the very last hand i played, i was down about 1/2 buy in at 50max on 4 tables, 3 of them are closed, I get Ah9h in late position. cant remmeber preflop action, flop was 5x,6h,7x. SB leads a smallish bet, I call turn 4h, SB thinks and bets about 1/2 pot, I think and figure a) i have draws to nut flush, and 2nd nut striaght, and it's my last hand :D I call, river Qh, SB open shoves for 51$ more. I instacall, he shows, Kh5h. I love winning pots when people shove into me. I do have to admit I got pretty lucky hitting that flush over flush. tough break for him.

anyways, went and watch the illusionist, what a cool movie, Ed Norton, Jessica Beal, really cool.

After then came and played poker for about 2 hours, won 3 buy ins, it was great.

Wasn’t planning on playing any poker last night…..however.

Took my sister out to Walmart and Best buy last night (she got rid of her car so now I’m the official chauffeur) Weather was pretty crazy, lots of blowing fresh snow, which I’m especially fond of. I don’t know why people hate winter, I think it’s the best. Ya it’s cold but it looks so awesome. Anywhoore. Listening to the leafs game in the car while in transit, leafs are up 1-0 in the 2^nd, NY Isls SCORES! Damn, 1-1, 30 seconds later, islanders SCORES! DAMNITALLTOHELL! 2-1 NY. So weak. I get home, give the wife a kiss, tell her leafs game is on and run up to computer room to watch. I pretty much always play poker when I watch the games upstairs because for the most part if I’m in the room, I’m playing poker. Just can’t help it haha.

Anyways, Things started out very strangely. I got TONS and I mean tons of big starting hands. AKo, AKs, AQs, Lots of pocket pairs and lost with almost all of them, in the first 5 min of 4 tabling 50max I dropped 50$ just from raising pre, and continuation bets on flop and folding. Then didn’t get a lot of hands for about half an hour, then went on one of the sickest card rushes you can imagine. Every hand I had held up, every crappy hand I was dealt that I got to play made a big hand, it was just poetic. I wept for a short time…. Hmmm, probably not.

It was fairly strange because I had decided out of nowhere that I was gonna push any time I had a monster on river, and everyone just felt like calling I guess.

Here is a hand that I enjoyed

AdAx vs 7d9d. I raise to 3$ pre, (oh ya, I had also been making obscenely large raises pre and getting called in a couple spots. WEIRD) He calls, flop comes, [2d,7s,Jd] He checks, I check, normally I wouldn’t want to check here, but I just felt with the Ad I’m in ok shape and hate getting raised on flops with unimproved Aces (Not slow playing, I was just playing it cautious, Id say I check this flop 1 out of 25 times) turn, 7d. He leads for almost pot, I tank and decided since I have Ad, best thing to do is call cause he isn’t folding a made flush or a 7 here. River another diamond. He leads very small, I shove for like 40$ more… Huge overbet, he thinks for a few and calls with 8d9d. MHIG. One thing I did really appreciate about this gentleman was that he took the beats with grace and dignity. He just said, NH and moved onto next hand.

The very next hand, and I’m sure this guy is still cringing about it. He limps UTG I check in BB with 9d4d (heads up at the table now) He just reloaded.

Flop comes 9x5x4x. He leads flop, I’m thinking, it’s quite possible he’s on tilt here, lets see what we can do and try to make this look like a gigantic bluff. I shove all in into a 4 or 3 or 4$ pot. He thinks and thinks and calls and shows KK. My hand held and I squealed with delight. After he lost this hand he just said tzzz. And that was it. Nothing else. Very respectable. At least there is someone else other then me that tries to stay civil when taking beats.

I ended a fairly short session (about 1 hour) up 3 buy ins. Pretty excited about that.

Again last night I played very well, ran well, and made excellent decisions. Very pleased with my play this past week. Up about 1000 profit since Saturday.

Back to the leafs game. Wooow. Did they ever plan unbelievable hockey last night, SOOOO GOOOD. Shots in 3^rd peried, 16-1 Toronto. Miraculous saves 3 for NY 2 for Leafs. (the leafs saves were made my Thomas Kaberle. Pretty crazy game all in all, Dipietro played one of the sickest games I’ve seen in along time.

3:52pm Monday February 12^th 2007, Computer gets shut off, jacket put on, keys inserted into ignition of my baller A4, race through the manic rush hour traffic, luckily it’s only a 3 km drive home. Arrive home, beep beep Alarm set. Keys inserted into door lock, turn handle, race upstairs with the excitement of a 6 year old on Christmas morning. POWER ON! Run downstairs, let the dog outback, run back upstairs and sit in the new chair, (the executive managers chair) It does make me feel important, it amplifies my feelings about playing the game I love tonight. My wife is working all night, so I’m in for a treat. I call her to confirm that she’s on her way to work, oh wait, her shift got cancelled. That’s not good. She’s on her way home. POWER OFF! Get out of chair, go weep in the corner…… Ok, so all of that happened except for the powering off and weeping.

Just before I left work I read a short article that sbrugby posted who knows when on 2+2 regarding 1k to 200k, and how he feels he could do it in 4 weeks. Talk about getting my poker juices flowing. It was basically about starting at 100NL and moving up to 200NL when you get 2k, then moving to 400NL when you get 3500, etc etc. It’s kind of my dream to be able to play 5/10NL and 10/20NL properly bankrolled and earning lots of $s regularly beating the games. This had me very mentally ready to play some poker tonight, luckily the wife was in a good mood and didn’t seem to mind that I played while she was home tonight, I put in about 3 hours total last night. Played really well except for a 5-10 minute tilt session but regained my composure quickly and got back atter.

Played 4 tables until I went bust on one when my QQ ran into KK on 9d,6x,2d board. Unfortunately I was fairly sure I was beat but I only had half a stack so I couldn’t lay it down. With a full stack I really do think I could have layed it down without much of a problem. Oh well, only a minor setback, I played 50Max all night cause I only have about 200$ on party and didn’t want to transfer more over. I played well over my few hundred hands and ran one table up to 130$, and the other 2 to about 100$ a piece. Finishing up a grand total of almost exactly 3 buy ins. Was a good night, I had tons of fun playing, and can’t wait to play again, although, tonight I may not play at all so I can go to the gym, haven’t been since Saturday so I need to go.

Prison Break = No Show, WTF? 24 was on in its place for 2 hours, BULL SHIT.

Heroes, was awesome last night. Some very interesting turn of events took place. If you haven’t seen this show you really need to download season 1. (or I should say the first half of this season).

High stakes poker. Wooooow. Sbrugby is on… finally. Unfortunately they only showed about 10 hands because they spent most of the night either changing people out, or having Sammy and Eli chop pots after 10 minutes of conversation. I do watch this show for the conversation as much as the poker but it was a little to much. Having all these new ppl come in at one time was a bad idea I think. Lots more action but to much banter / time spent on discussing chopping 600$. You can really tell Brian (sbrugby) is an internet player, he makes a lot of the same plays that we’re taught are “correct” optimal plays, where a lot of the live players play what is told to be the opposite. Ex. Brian has 78 on A9T board, someone bets, Brian raises to 20k on a semi bluff, Todd Brunson calls with QJ, and original bettor folds. Turn, A, Todd checks, Brian checks, river 8, Todd bets 20k, Brian folds, Easy fold here but when you watch almost all other players over the past few seasons play they almost never raise just an OESD especially when they have the small end of it with under cards. I personally think that it’s a good play online but it looks like these top pros know where they stand in the hand so much more often it’s not necessarily a great play against them, but obv if Todd has like 1 pair with no draw he’s probably mucking but still. There must be a reason for all these other players not raising those kinds of draws as much on this show. Is it because they want to make their hands and win huge pots? Or they want to wait to make a hand to commit all their money.

Unsure, just an observation. What does the 3 people that read this think?

Weekend In Review.

ScottyJugs sucks, reasons to follow. A) He wouldn’t go to Casino with me after he got me all excited about it. B) Because he doesn’t give me money for free. Pfft, some friend.

Friday night played no poker, went to a party with some work people to the International Business Managers condo downtown, Pretty sick place and we’ve had some nice parties there in the past, this one as usual had plenty of ridiculous employees acting like complete asses… including my boss, whom got so drunk he passed out and everyone drew on him with permanent marker, Penile Face, Penile stomach, graphic words written all over him… Good times. I got a picture. Maybe I’ll post. CRM??? (Career Limiting Move?) haha

Saturday the wife woke my ass up at 9:55am, normally I’m up early on weekends but due to the late night party I was still sleeping/exhausted, I refused to answer the phone (she was working) but she called 4 times in a row so I had to concede and admit I do whatever my darling requests. She wanted me to go onto ticket master and purchase her 2 Gwen Stefani tickets, I got 2 floor seats row 27 but when I go to purchase them she couldn’t remember her password so they got released again and couldn’t get anything anywhere near (and she still couldn’t remember her password anyways…..typical) :) I love you hunny.. haha.

So I was pissed and tired…. Sounds like a good time to play poker. I decided to 4 table 100 max on party. Made a deposit from Neteller, Opened Poker Tracker and PAHUD and off to the races I went. Played excellent poker, solid TAG and picked up about 6 buy ins on Saturday throughout the course of the day. Didn’t get into very many tough spots which is really the key to minimizing variance. Avoiding LAG tendencies is key to avoiding a few things, a) getting mentally exhausted from having to make so many tough decisions hand after hand after hand. B) variance decreases when you play good hands + because you aren’t losing small to medium pots with mediocre hands a lot.

Also, getting lucky in 2 spots for nice pots is pretty key. Both times opponent had less then a full stack. Both times they had straights, both times I had sets.

Hand 1) I have medium pair, can’t remember what. 55 I think, Villain raises pre, I call in position, flop comes 7,9,2 can’t recall suits. He checks, I check, turn, comes 5x. He leads for something like 9$, I raise him all in to 40-50$ish, he calls, river, 9. I win, he FLIPS OUT and shows 6d,8d. I apologize because I’m a donk ha ha :) I am not good enough to lay down sets without full stacks when there is only 3 card straights and no flush out. :D.

Next hand, I have 99, villain raises pre to 4$, I call, flop comes QJ9. I lead flop for 7.77$, he raises me, to 26$ or something, I think to myself, he could have a set here, but he doesn’t have full stack and if he has QJ I need to stack him and if he has AT I want all money in now, or Pocket Tens I wouldn’t mind just winning pot now. I don’t see him having KT but he is kinda lag, but havn’t seen him raise any stupid hands like that really. I shuve for 30-40 more then he raised, he insta calls with KTo and I river Q. :) Wow getting lucky is awesome. I would say this is variance evening out but in reality I just play bad.

Oh ya, one more hand, I have 33 in late pos, raise, called from blinds, and one middle position player, flop KQ9, pot is 11$ , villain 1 checks, villain 2 bets, 2$, I call, villain 1 calls, doesn’t mean mean cause people will call with anything to that small of a bet from a donk weak tighty. Turn 3, sweet, now I have a great hand. Donk checks, I bet 3/4 pot. Villain 1 raises all in for 60$ more, middle position mucks, I tank and realize I’m owned but this villain is super aggressive and plays a ton of hands, so I say, Ur TJ is good but I’m not good enough to fold, River Q. :) I win, he had TJ haha, wow, got lucky there … AGAIN.

Saturday after playing for a few hours, I went to the gym and worked out. I did shoulders and killed it pretty good working in some new rotator cuff exercises that seemed to work really well, then did interval cardio training on the bike (it’s like a full freak leg work out) so crazy. My legs killed haha. Came home, played a bit more while the wife slept, got her up at about 5, we were planning on going out for dinner but she was tired so I suggested getting some Chinese takeout, which she obv agreed to cause she’s a fiend for Chinese, much like myself. I went and rented a couple movies (Saw III, and The Illusionist.) Saw III was pretty good, especially for a 3^rd movie, usually they blow so hard you can feel it through the TV, but this was decent. Haven’t watched the Illusionist yet, it sounds pretty good though.

Wife went to bed about 10, then I went and played some Age of Empires III (I’m kinda getting back into some video games lately which is fun, haven’t played them in years. It’s enjoyable. Went to bed about midnight.

Sunday did lots of stuff. Went to 5 or 6 places looking for a) a recliner or b) a new computer chair. Got a computer chair at staples, it is shipitholla worthy, on sale from 250$ to 200$. Even better, hella comfortable, it actually comes up way past my head and since I’m 6’4 that’s amazingly unordinary. Went to Costco and returned some Ralph Lauren golf shirts for a smaller size (their XLs were effin huge) haha.

Got some other stuff, then came home and played some poker, played 4x 50max, and was up 2 buy ins quick then dropped 4 buy ins then swung it back to up 10$ to end the session ahha, played about 400 hands or so, I was just pleased to win anything after being down so much, went on mini tilt at one point but regained my composure and played well. I flopped top 2 pair against 2 flopped straights lost one, and split the other, crazy lucky runner runner to tie haha.

Then went and played hockey last night in Thamesford, was pretty fun but late. Ugh now I’m tired. That’s all,

Last night went well then immediately after blew. Once again when I got home from hockey played a bit and lost a big chunk of my roll to a 3 outter on the turn, In his defense we didn't get all the money in tell the turn, only about 1/3 of it went in on flop....hmmmm. Not upset really because a) i should have been able to lay top 2 down, and b) i just couldn't put him on the hand because he called a pre flop raise and a pot bet and couldn't really put him on, 7,9o on 8dJd4c flop. :) live and learn. My friend Scott, (ScottyJugs on Party) wanted to head to windsor today to play some live action but I don't think the wife is going to allow it unfortunately. I would really love to play some Live NL tonight. Nutz to that. There is yet hope however, residing in the form of my sister. She wants to go with my wife to some girly show for makeup and lengeire or something like that and tonight is the last night, Hopefully she'll want to go with her.

If I do end up going i'll give u a trip report, although it may be horrendous due to the fact that windsor casino has Rake in NL games instead of session (ACTION KILLER).

I made 40BB in 5 minutes playing 50max after work yesterday, thats ALOT of BB /100, if I can keep this rate up... and i think i can, then I obviously will be playing the 200/400NL game with

Durr and sbrugby and my favourite player David B. (MagicPitch) He's a nut job and I love it. So wild/aggressive. To bad he doesn’t win more but meh, still hella fun to watch.

Obv this is all speculation that I'll continue to run at 50bb/100 but like I said, it's probably doable considering I am the best…. Haha.

back to reality, I have been killing it at the gym lately. Since I went on my honeymoon I have worked out at least 4 times / week. I'm runnin at about 229lbs now. Got about 10-15 lbs of fat to lose and I'll be effin ripped. For those of you thinking wow, this guy must be fat as hell, WRONG haha, i'm slightly overweight meaning i have a PONCH if you will haha, but in very good shape otherwise. I'm 6'4 so the weight is displaced over a large area for the most part. I play hockey 2x / week, work out 3 to 5 times / week and in summer play, tennis, golf, soccer(sometimes) and pretty much any other sport i can get my hands on.

So I cashed out about 700$ worth of coinage from Party last week, still waiting for brutal Neteller to accept my pending status on 3 transactions, ugh, so slow. Ud think with no US customers they could do a good job haha, obv not.

I was looking at a viewsonic 37" tv last night at Costco, looked ok, but I think it would be tough for me to buy less then 42" although if I want one for my comptuter room 32 - 37" would be perfect and I could then setup my comp with it as well for playing some games. hmm something to consider

First on the agenda is to buy a new computer chair, we have one of those annoying C shaped IKEA chairs with no real legs to speak of, the legs are more spring arm kinda things, Wow these chairs (http://www.ikea.com) suck if you want to sit up in them so I'm gonna a) but a recliner or b) buy a nice computer chair all leathery and cushions...

so that’s it for today. If anyone actually reads this, maybe a comment or 2 on what you would like to see/read on this blog would be greatly apprecaited. More poker related? More hands retold? More non poker related etc?

played 1x 1/2 limit, donked off 13 BBs for no good reason, got no hands and when I did people folded to my pre raises those bastards haha.

played 3x 25 max NL, went on a crazy heater the first 5 min, up like 3 buy ins, then proceeded to get beat up by flopped flushes versus flopped set of aces, (My fault cause i didnt reraise preflop to knock out 45s) haha. then i have Qs9s on Qd5sXs board, turn Ts, we get it all in, obv, river 5, GG me, He has QQ. so not much went my way after the mini heater, but thats ok.

I wasn't tilting but was bored, bought in 60bb into 100max game and and rolled that up to a little over 150$. which was ok, got me back to a little more then even for the night.

- Prison Break was not to bad last night, definitly starting to lose some interest in it however,
- Heroes was FACKING awesome. That show is so sick. I think i want to rewatch all of season 1 again, (i watched most of it at work on my friends ipod video (or should i say listened to it since i was working hard while doing so haha). Then watched a few episodes on my 2nd monitor while 6 tabling poker so didn't get to pay alot of attention to it and this is a show with a fair amount of nuances that you need to pick up.

- High Stakes Poker S3 Ep4 was pretty good. Gosh Golly Jamie gold is one horrible poker player. He was obv a card rack in the WSOP ME. haha, he plays ULTRA HIGH STAKES CASH the exact same way he plays his tournys (donkfest) It is just so awesome how he keeps saying, ya i know i'm beat but i have to call or something along those lines. You can tell Doyle is just hella excited he keeps wanting to play pots against him. haha. What an imbicile. Now you see why doyle is the best.. not because hes better then other top pros, but because all the fishy donks are HONOURED to lose their money to him and play hands poorly over and over and don't seem to care, because they justify by saying (well i lost to Doyle) haha lol.

i can understand he was on tilt a bit but it was his own doing because he kept trying to push action and make things happen instead of just letting them unfold.

I like the guy alot, he does alot of great charity work in 3rd world countries so i give him alot of respect for that, he just is a tad out of his league in this game. (i'm sure the pros agree he's one of the donators ) obv you can't tell just from one session but still, he's a tourny player mostly i believe and we all know how much cash game players love playing with tourny players. :)

Played a long session of 1/2NL last night on party.

I have been consistently getting crushed on stars the past couple weeks, I just don't understand (when i get monsters it's folded to me in BB) etc etc. Anyways, not complaining, i wasn't playing very well anyways, so it was probably that. But still.. :)

So last night, threw 2bills on party and started playing some 6 max action. I don't know what the hell happend but god damn partys 1/2NL game plays like stars 5/10NL game. Such a tough game with really good players, my PAHUD let me know who were the good players and who were the bad players, however, there were only occasionally bad players, but luckily i was playing extremely well. Being patient when I needed to be, however I do think my aggression was a little low (but considering most of my opponents were 3 betters almost every hand i guess it's understandable to be a little more passive) Let them do the betting right? i couldn't believe how much 3 betting was going on every hand.

I got 3 bet by a below avg player on my left i have JTs and raise in CO to 7$ , get reraised by button to 22$, i think for a bit and call. Flop comes QT7. Check / call. check /check, check/check. i win he has 44. That went directly into the notes haha. Not very often will people 3 bet you with 44 online at these limits. It seems since americans have dissapeared parts difficulty has increased alot (and now that ive been playing at stars for a month or so party seems even tougher (just a testament to how badly players on stars are).

anyways, here is a hand i could use some help on

Villain is a good player, hes a little loose, 33/24/ up like 4 buy ins at the moment.

I'm not to thrilled to play big pots against him cause he played a set really well and stacked a guy and i didn't put him on the hand, so i'm cautious of him checking flop with position and making smallish raises on the turn. or just smooth calling flop.

i haven't really lost a pot to him, however we have only been in a few small confrontations.

my limp was planning on doing a nice limp re-raise if one of the other aggros shorter stacks (100bb) raised, but when he raised i didn't want to make a huge pot out of position with JJ. so i called, also if my opponent behind me calls and i flop a set i may get a lot more action and if it's an ugly flop I can easily dump.

Now i'm thinking and thinking, if he has a king i'm getting all of his monies, if he has clubs i may get just called, if he has something else, i have no fucking clue what it could be :). I bet 72$ on river, he called pretty quick and showed QQ. hmmm, id say he played it pretty bad (but worked for me) haha. he only literally beats a 100% bluff there. what hand could i bet turn and river with that he beats, (other then a naked Ac that missed on river) To bad river wasn't a queen :) (or that he had a king haha) but ill try not to be to greedy. I'll taker.

So the session went well once i started making some hands, it was a slight rollercoaster at beginning of session up 50-100, then back to even..repeat. but after i settled down a bit, stopped trying to bluff i started rollin finishing up a delicous 350$. i might a) play some 4-8 tables of 25max today, or b) cash out, unsure which. probably the former hahaha ....DEGENERATE.. gulp

Political rant.

The more I think about this, the more I realize I will never ever in my entire life move to the United Socialists of America.

The government seems to be moving more and more towards a Soviet Socialists mentality. It’s getting sickening to view what they are doing to basic human rights. These “values” they are trying to protect are ridiculous, and the last time I checked people are allowed to choose their own values, and do not require them to be forced on them by a hypocritical group of bible thumpers.

Seeing as how I’m north of the border, I’m fairly excited to live in a country with a liberal view of life. I think the only countries I would ever move to outside of Canada are, England (But I don’t think I could put up with the snotty bratty children) or somewhere like Holland.

Remember the “vote or die” election campaigns by movie stars and rappers etc, and all the commotion about EVERYONE must go out and vote and have their voice heard (8 years ago). All this did was awaken the conservatives to come out in force and ensure they were heard loud and clear. Democrats were not seen at the poles in any greater #s then the previous election.

I have to say I was BEYOND shocked when I saw that bush got elected again. What a disaster for all of human kind.

I often think of this question when I think of U.S. government and policy.

“What would the world be like today, had George W. Bush not been elected?”

There is a very likely chance there would be no grudge war in Iraq. Tens of Thousands of people would not have been killed. It’s so frustrating knowing things could be so different if Gore was elected into office. It’s almost enough to make a person want to cry. I’m sure some Americans have cried because of the ridiculous decisions made in the past 2 terms.

All in all I’m fairly disgusted at Americans in general (republicans and democrats alike) for not using common sense. Reasons being a) not everyone voting, and b) allowing a complete imbecile to be voted to office 2x.

It really shows the rest of the world what a joke the USA is.

Thursday… YAYYYYY.

That means Hockey tonight, too bad it’s at 11 pm.

Oh well, the wife is working all night and I’m gonna try to grind out some pesos. Last night was a good night, played some higher stakes then I should have but still low enough that I know I can kill the games (just with not as much of a BR) haha, 100max 3 tables and 1 table of 200 max but for fun I bought in 60$ minimum, because I can move a short stack in cash games like there is no tomorrow. :)

End result = stm

Took a small loss at 100 max, losing with AA, QQ, JJ, and a few other big hands. But made up quite nicely by winning about 210$ at 200 max. HU, well 3 handed for a bit.

Was punishing the original HU player till some other shorty bought in, I was about 150$ at this point, he had about 80, I raise in SB to 8$ with KK, he smooth calls in bb , this is his 3 or 4^th hand so no reads. Flop Td3s7d. I lead for about 14$ and he shoves his remainig $s in, and I’m assuming we are off to the races with KK vs diamond draw or AT or possible 89. Turn diamond, I minimize so I don’t see the pot shipped to him, I open it just in time to see pot being shipped to me and seeing a K on the river, he has AA. I apologized to him about the beat, and he kept ranting and raving like I’m supposed to EVER fold KK on that flop for like 30bb haha. He got unlucky, however it would have been same result if we reraise preflop so meh, shit happens, it happened to me before, itll happen again :) cept I won’t whine about it for 20 minutes.

An interesting hand that happened against the original HU player went like this.

I had reraised him the hand before, and a couple times before when he was on button and raised because he was (as he should be) raising a lot. So I reraised a/I on 2^nd hand with AJo, Shuved with TT pre to his raise, and then started to just reraise 3.5x his raise with my big hands. Anyways, I was up on him and had ran a really nice bluff Which I may be able to remember (except it turned out not to be a bluff) haha. WOOPS.

Anyways, He raised to 6$, I had just reraised him last hand so I called with ATo, I didn't want to have to fold my hand if he 4 bet me, Flop comes AJ8r. I lead for pot, and he raises me to 44$. I’m thinking he could have had AJ, A8, etc, or just easily have a bigger ace then me and he is playing it like a big ace. I considered shoving because calling won’t do me any good here, but I think the only way he calls me here is if I’m way behind. So I muck and say AT no good? He shows 4s6s. Wow nice bluff, He played it perfectly. Also one thing I focused on while I was thinking if I should go with this hand or not, is I have been out playing him for the whole time thus far and feel I am a better player then him, so I figured id wait for a better spot to get it all in.

Anyone think that’s a horrible fold? (I hadn’t seen him run 1 bluff yet so I kinda feel I had to give him credit for it)

I played every form of poker last night,

½ Limit 5 card draw, ½ limit holdem, NL holdem, HORSE, 2-7 triple draw, all cash games, then played some SnGs which were painful haha. And then played some hilarious .01/.02 cent NL holdem games which I killed for something like 25 cents :)

I got winner in limit holdem, was winner in horse for most of the round when I lost in razz with 7642A to 75432. I have’t played much razz and wasn’t away they count from your highest card down. So ya, that was a huge pot haha. At least this time I didn’t cap it on multiple streets in razz when thinking its Stud HI with a Queens full :) haha, they need better indicators of which round it is. LoL.

Anyways, last night was kinda fun, but I was getting bored quickly, I’m really going to have to concentrate more on NL Holdem T&P to get some better understanding on controlling pot sizes and stuff. At the lower limits I seem to have no problem doing exactly what I want, but that seems to be because the opponents are so easily manipulated, however at 100max and up they seem to be a lot less predictable and erratic.

A problem I have at 25max is because the opponents are so weak I get bored easily. I may start to 4 table 25max and 1 table 50max now and focus on making the best possible decisions, 8 tabling leaves me with not enough time to think about a lot of the new concepts I’m learning now, so maybe that will help.

I went out to grab some lunch today and while checking out the cashier asks me how I’m doing, and I reply, “Fantastic” and smile at her, she looks up kind of quickly and is slightly shocked at my response. She replies “That’s nice to hear, most people have something to complain about” I reply, “People suck, that’s my only complaint” ha ha, just meaning that people that do complain are losers, I wasn’t actually complaining.

This situation tells me one thing. Far to many people complain and feel that external sources have a real bearing on how they feel internally. This could not be further from the truth. Perception Breeds Reality. If you remember that, you will always be happy. If you think negatively, negative things and feelings will occur. Think positively and …. You get my drift. I’ve tried to live by this motto for the past 6-7 years and although I have occasionally strayed from it, I always get to a point where I realize I’m being to negative and must think more positively. Try it, Next time someone asks you how you are and instead of bringing up all the things that are bothering you or making you feel down, say, everything is great, I have nothing to complain about… Always try to think of the positive things in your life. Far too often people think of how they don’t make enough money or blah blah blah, they don’t realize that they have a good job, and they are healthy, and they have a loving wife/kids/husband/boyfriend/family etc. Take some time out and think of the positives in your life. You should take into consideration that when people ask you how your doing its either a) just being polite or b) they just want you to say something negative so they can tell you all the negative things in their lives, (as Fat bastard says, “It’s a vicious cycle”)

P.S. Try Smiling at people that you don’t now as you walk by them on the street. It’s so shocking how often they will smile back.

Hump day is wednesday, Think of the week as a Sine wave. 0 degrees being monday, and 180 degrees being sunday. 1/2 Sin = 90 degrees, which is the apex of the porabola, Wednesday is the apex of the week (or apex of the hump if you will), therefore Hump day = wednesday.

I guess i could have just said, hump day is wednesday. meh, mine was more fun. You really have to picture professor frink from the simpsons giving the explanation to make it funny i guess.

I received my Miller, Sklansky, NL Holdem Theory & Practice last night. I was pretty excited. I read the first 2 chapters and every single thing I read made me realize why I haven’t been winning the last little while in cash games. I have been deviating from my original very +EV strategy at the low limits and moved to a far to aggressive strategy that EmpireMaker2 suggested. I jumped on 8 tables last night and every single decision I had to make I tried to ask myself, what would he call me with on flop that I beat, etc etc, things like that. I turned out a nice 2 buy in win in about 30 minutes. Played great and because of the things I was thinking of and the way I was thinking them I ran 2 beautiful bluffs for some nice pots that otherwise I would have just let go.

I really thought on the turn I was behind to 2 pair, and a slight chance he had the nuts here but unlikely, I felt If I called and hit I could win a nice pot. Well I did hit on the river, but it was not enough obviously. When he bet the river I was 99% sure he didn’t have a Q and that he had 89, 9T, possibly JT, or J9. If he has the last 2 I don’t think I can get him to lay it down but if he has the more likely 89, or 9T I think with a nice raise on the river I can get him to dump it. His stats were kinda LAG but he seemed like a decent player. Don’t think I would make this play against anyone but again, PAHUD really does help in making decisions to bluff people or not.

Played 12.356 minutes last night, lost 14$. Felt extremely bored playing. Didn’t play anymore. Wow, I really need to get the grind back on haha and hopefully enjoy it. Imma take a few days off I think and hope I can come back interested. If not, I’m just gonna play some limit holdem, some limit 5 card draw, and some limit Stud Hi. (stud hi is my favourite game, but so few ppl like to play it. I absolutely LOVE to play HU Stud. It’s so much fun. Lots of bluffing if you’re good at hand reading and lots of money to be made. Only problem is it’s a fairly high variance version of poker since there is so many streets and so much money gets put in the pot. I think its almost NEVER correct to fold 7^th street in stud because the pots are ALWAYS so huge. Limit 5 card draw seems like a low variance game and I’ve enjoyed playing that a big lately. Not many people like to play it though. Nuts to them.

I wanna go play some live poker. Although a strange thing happened the last time I played…. For the first time ever playing live poker, it was boring. Even when I played the biggest live pot of my life I was bored…. That can’t be good. A casino bout an hour away from my house that only spreads limit due to gov’t regulations o charity casinos supposedly spreads Omaha now. I would love to go down there and play some of that. Casino Niagara spread stud but one of the pit boss’ said he has never once actually had anyone play it which sucks.

Anyways, I’m sick today, I was supposed to go visit my nanny in the hospital (shes 88, got pneumonia, and many other health issues and the prognosis isn’t great. Since I have a cold I’m not going. Don’t want to expedite the inevitable. :( I’ll try to go later this week. He states what he is going to do before he does it just like in a tourney, “I call”, “Do I have to state Rebuy?” haha lol. “Can I count my chips in front of my cards or is that not allowed” haha, followed by Shieky saying something like along the lines of nobody cares what you do it’s not a tournament. Haha. He is in so far over his head and he has absolutely no idea. What a brutal call with KJo to. I would fold that at 25Max NL haha. Gabe Kaplan isn’t half bad at pokah… haha, I have seen him playing in the 400/800 limit holdem at live at the bike before so I know he is a baller. One question, Someone explain to me why his betting KK on the river vs Matasow is so bad? Mike Checks it on the turn and I for sure would have though he has a Lone 9 or a smaller pair and a 9 there and I would be the river also. Negraneu is obviously on such a high level but If I could ask him one poker question it would be to explain that entire hand to me and what danny was thinking when he said how bad a play Kaplan made.

Sunday Million on Stars.

What a strange and slightly poor structure.

I don’t play a lot of tournaments anymore, but damn, the structure in this 200+15$ tourney just seemed pretty poor for the buy in.

This was my first time playing in the Million. I was in for a total of 3$. Won my seat in a 3$ rebuy sat which I never had to rebuy or addon considering I had 4x avg stack at addon time. Pretty much cruised the whole way in this to win the seat. First hand AJo all in very UTG raiser of 1/3 of his stack. Obv people in these tourneys shove ever chance they get pre so I was down for a rebuy, which didn’t happen when he rolled J5s. STM….ship the moneys.

Concurrently I was playing in an EPT 800$ qualifier and 2 people get seats out of 75 or something. I’m avg stack with 11 left, 7 paid. I get K8s in BB. 1 limper who has limped with big hands and seems very weak passive even with Aces and Top 2 pair. SB limps as well.

Flop, KJ8. and UTG limper bets 1200 (blinds 3/600) I’m definitely a little weary of KJ in this spot, but shit if I’m folding. He was an ½ avg stack anyways. Sb calls. I raise to about 5000. UTG has a few k left, He calls, SB calls. Turn, Ace. He shoves, sb calls, (me and sb have equal stacks) I shove all in for like 15k more) sb calls with A4o. Obv River 4. GG me :( That was the sickest beat of the day by far. So that knocked me out of contention for EPT.

Sunday Millions continued.

So like I was saying the structure seemed bad for a 200$ buy in.

10k starting stack, 25/50 blinds, but it seemed like the levels were 8 seconds long. I think 15 or 20 min max. I do understand that this tourney would take 2 days if it had longer levels but it still kinda sucked. At no point in the tourney did I feel I was able to play poker. Very few flops were taken and it just kinda sucked.

First hand of the tourney didn’t help either.

UTG+2 raises to 250. I call in BB. Flop, QsJs5c. Villain leads for 600. I ponder and since I don’t want to get into a big pot this early I call. Turn was T. He bets 600 again, which seems ULTRA weak to me. I raise to 1700. He calls, river K. Now this is an ULTRA tough spot. If he has a 9 I don’t want to just check it down and let him win, if he has an ace he obv is gonna shove, however, if he has a better 2 pair I want to get him to fold, however I really just couldn’t put him on a specific hand. No reads so I have no real idea what he has. QJ shoves on the turn doesn’t it? KQ does the same? AK obv smooth calls turn so maybe AK but he played it so weak I doubt it. I bet 3k and he insta calls with KQ. Nh sir. KT no good :)

So right away I was down to like 5k.fold fold fold fold. That’s pretty much 90% of what I did in this toury, which sucked, just waited for the blinds to become significant so I could steal and make it worth my while. Which is exactly what I did. Once blinds his 200/400 I felt it was good enough to steal so off I went to the races, This is by far the first tournament I’ve ever played where people play so tight right off the bat. Anyways, didn’t play anymore interesting hands, Folded a lot of pairs after getting reraised, including 66, 44, 77, and TT WOW , TT :) haha. Havn’t folded that much in my LIFE let alone in one tournament.

The demise came when I played a hand that couldn’t have been played worse.

I actually feel really bad for some of these guys because i know that those -@#$*()(%*% numbers mean they probably went broke and thats why nobody sees them playing HS online anymore. Anyone interested in talking poker via skype? or msn? I need someone I can chat with about hands and strategy etc. I have a dood i met on party that I talk shop with but only in the regards of how to maximize winnings by using external programs like PT, PAHUD and table selection software (still havn't purchased this last one yet). We havn't ever really discussed hands etc, mainly because he lives in England and with the time dif to here in Canada it's difficult. When I play in the evenings and stuff after work, it's like 2-3am there.

Is anyone intersted in kind of mentoring me and or just discussing stuff? someone who is a regular at 1/2NL or higher? Just wanna give me some tips/hints of things to do that they have done that has helped them progress and move up in limits?

This may sound pathetic..... but well damn it, I am pathetic so just deal with it hahhaha j/k.

If nobody wants to it's no big deal, I think I can do it myself, it just may take alot longer and also, there are alot more pitfalls without someone to talk to. I'm already losing interest in the 25 max games, maybe it's just cause i've been running break even for the past lil while days (and yes i understand that "the past lil while" is nothing in the grand scheme of things) but I still lose interest unless I am being challenge and mentally stimulated. The micro/low limits are just so mundane and predictable. Everyone thinks on 1 level and very very few people ever try to be tricky. You may say this is the best place to easily crush, well you're correct in that assumption however, it still provides very little mental challenge and also natural variance can occasionally make it not as enjoyable (but that is the same at any level) haha. I havn't got AA over KK,QQ, or JJ in like a week. haha, and ive played like 10k hands, I think thats pretty strange. Although i did flop a set and get it all in and got effed by AA with a turn of A. he played his aces well because i had no idea he had them, he just smooth called my raise pre.

Anyways, Accepting applications.... haha lol by applications i mean, if you want to help me out, pretty much no matter who u are, your in. :) even if you're a degenerate and go broke all the time haha, i could use you as what not to do instead of what to do. :P

One other thing i wanted to discuss and get some feed back from the 4--5 people that read this blog haha.

Do you guys find it difficult to adjust to different sites? I do not mean when you first start playing a brand new site cause obv that’s difficult, but I mean, when you play on for example, stars for a week, then u decided u wanna play on FTP for a bit so u open that up and jump on some tables, do you find that u lose more often then not right off the bat? Possibly because for example, the slide bars don’t work the same and it’s more difficult to quickly get the correct bet amount set when you are multi tabling etc? Am I even making sense? I seem to have a hell of a time playing on party with their weird # slide bar and it jumps far to high to easily sometimes and I get used to that, then move to stars where its more structured, I lose for awhile then win win win, then switch back to party and lose for awhile etc. Anyone else experienced this? Do you think I should just stick to one site since this seems to be the case 4 me?

No, No I’m not.

Won 6 buy ins last night and have made it to my 60 Buy in BR. I feel that this is the perfect amount that I could play with and mess around, try new things, practice being ULTRA aggressive (which I did last night) and not worrying about it.

Last night was a rollercoaster for me kinda (basically because I was playing very aggressive and using what EmpireMaker2 said, to push rivers as much as you can.

One hand where I was very suspicious of my opponent and felt like he was slow playing a big hand on the turn. Went like this.

I raise pre to 1.25$. he calls oop.

Flop, Q76.

He checks, I bet 2$, he calls,

Turn 5. No flush out there.

He bets 2$ into, 6.50$ pot, I raise 5.75$..... He thinks for like 10-15 seconds and smooth calls. Now I’m very worried I’m beat here by a set.

River: Qh and he quickly checks to me. Now I’m kind of confused and think, why the hell would he check a set on the river because if I have only 1 pair, I’ll probably just check behind and he’ll lose a lot of value, but If I have a straight, I’m for sure going to bet it and he may raise or may call me and lose. Maybe he was trying to induce a bluff from a hand that missed some sort of draw. Even though I have top 2 I really wanted to check because I felt I may be beat but the chances I’m ahead here to some of his stupid hands a player at this limit plays is way to high, so I did what I was told, Push rivers at any given chance. So that’s what I did, he only had about 12$ left so I just shuve and he insta-calls with 75 :) Nice river for me, also, If I hadn’t made 2 pair on river I would have just checked behind him and not been stacked. He plays bad. (2 pair hand there on turn for him is so vulnerable, I’d be shuving turn after my raise everytime.

It seems that on party it is best to play a little more passive at lower limits, because they don’t seem to bluff as much as on stars (aka, Americans play on stars and so many want to be all-stars making all star plays, and Europeans play on Party and seem to play much more conservative)

Poker + Me = Goooood.

I have been logging a decent amount of hands lately, probably in the range of 7-9k in the past 3 – 4 days.

I’m winner of about 16 buy ins in that time period. Stars is pretty good for the low stakes games (I’m assuming it is because of the Americans on there, They seem to bluff so much) it’s nice cause I’m a professional bluff picker offer. Ya that’s right, I said it. Haha.

The wife mentioned last night again about getting rid of the 2^nd monitor, which im annoyed about. I’m gonna do my best to keep it because it makes 8 tabling so easy (and now that I can 8 table without finding it to difficult to make all the decisions I feel my $$ should increase nicely)

My roll is sitting nicely at about 1550$. 8 tabling 25max tables means I can shuv on a bluff and not even bat an eye because I know it won’t affect my mental state one bit. I always am thinking about when to move up in limits etc, but This guy I met online before (mentioned in previous posts) PelfHunter on party, has really made me see that you don’t have to always be moving up, just play at a low limit and win win win. If I can make 500-1k extra a month for the next 3 monthsish why risk it by moving up. I have the type of personality that once I move up one limit I’ll keep wanting to move up more limits quickly, which eventually leads to me playing 5/10NL which is bad.

My goal is to just keep playing 8 tables of 25max for the next while and get as many hands as I can in (while not allowing it to affect my life outside of poker to much) ie, keep going to the gym, keep hanging out with friends etc.

A strange thing that has happened is that since I got back from Cuba I have been very bored of poker right away, I play for 15 min and am like, I don’t even want to do this right now, so I have been good about if I don’t want to play to do something else, Like play some video games which I got a couple new ones recently.

I was reading good2cu’ blog yesterday (he is a ship it holla balla) haha. Good website so you should all check it out for hilarious stories etc. The thing is, he looks to be exactly what I am in poker, a decent player at limits he plays within his bankroll and if he gets over his roll he falls apart and everything seems to go wrong.

He dropped 90k in 2 days playing really high stakes when he is basically rolled for 10/20NL games I’m thinking. I really want to ensure that this doesn’t happen to me…..AGAIN hahah, so I’m going to keep rereading his blog about how he is almost bust online and then maybe I can keep everything in check.

So in conclusion, poker is easy when playing low stakes, life is good, GO HAVE FUN.

the quick recap is this.

was in cuba for the past week on my honey moon so no poker, however the night before i left i was super bored and watned to play lots of HU while i was waiting to leave for the airport, so i sat at ever single table i could that had 1 person at it (on stars) no matter what the limit, i was jumping up and down from 25max all the way up to 1k max. won 1200 over the course of an hour or 2 and was super pumped and left for my trip. came back yesterday (Friday) and was itchin to play.

dropped 3 buy ins quickly with AA each time, and quit, today went much better to say the least, i moved about 700 over to neteller and kept 500 on stars, over 1k hand i was up 9 buy ins haha crazy, i was 6 tabling, then hit a crappy run of luck combined with trying to play my big pairs over aggressively on the flop and lost 3 buy ins, then won them back + later on tonight, so all in all a great poker day.

A hand from Fallsview on friday.

Ok, here is an interesting hand that I played at Fallsview last week. Really the only interesting hand.

I have QdTh.

I have played very tight for the 4 hours I was at the table yet nobody had noticed cause I was being very active/vocal with the table joking etc, plus they are stupid haha.

Villian is a loose asian kid with hilarious hair (kinda a mullet but looks instead like a full rat tail) haha. Anyways, I have only shown down, TT, AK, QQ, JJ, and won a few more hand without showdown, Image doesn’t mean shit cause nobody pays attention.

Villian had bluffed kinda small into 5 way pots with no pair no draw 7high etc and shown 2-3 times, so he isn’t great, but is aggressive when he senses weakness. Only time I saw him get it all in he had 2^nd nutz.

One pot about 15 min before the big hand is really the cause of the big hand and how it went down.

I check quickly hoping that my showing weakness 3x will make him bet because he was so apt to bet and also if he was slow playing a big hand he’s done.

He very quickly says, I bet 20$ cause I want those chips, I look at him, and am like hmm, I hope he didn’t go running hearts :) and I say, I RAISE. 50$ total, he looks at me all shocked ad says, u raise? I said, yup, 50$, he says ALL IN, for another 300$ish.

I just am like WTF? Haha, and I ask him, you have hearts? And he looks kinda confused but pretty confident so im pretty sure he doenst have hearts and if he does cutos to him for stacking me. I CALL. I roll broadway and he mucks AQ. Ahha I scoop the 700$ pot and my biggest live pot ever.

I don’t think I could have played a more prefect hand at a more perfect situation against a more perfect opponent, it’s like the stars lined up for me during that hand.

It was sweet, the guy was very cool about losing and we joked and chatted it up for the next couple hours until I left.

Anyone hate the river check? Against a normal opponent I’d be betting there for value, but I really felt checking had a lot more value against an opponent who is aggressive when shown weakness 2.

Things havnt been to great lately, last week i had some great sessions and did well then lost a bunch playing a bit higher.

Won it back on the weekend then had a tough run on monday night and lost about half of it back.

Gonna go to Cuba tommorow night so no playing for the next week.

had a great session at Fallsview (Niagara Falls) on Friday night and booked a 600$ win, lost about 100$ playing roulette (STUPID GAME) in about 3.2 minutes.

Well, haven’t posted in awhile. Poker has been pretty wild lately. Was stupid and jumped up and played lots of 100Max, 200Max, 400Max and 1000Max. GULP. Has some pretty up and down sessions, ended up losing some of my original profit from last week at 1/2NL but stayed in the +, and was a pretty decent loser at 100Max (SO STRANGE) My buddy who is a big grinder on Party says to stay away from the 100Max because that’s where all the grinders hand out, so either play 50 max, or 200max. (Seeing as how the 100max is the only level im a loser at right now I should take his advice, however I probably wont, haha, just have to practice better table selection. The 400 max went well. I bought in ½ buy in a few times mainly because I was bored. And rolled those up a few hundo each session. 5/10NL was a pretty easy game beause there are so many people taking shots (aka me?) haha however it seems that im the only one who knows how to play poker out of the shot takers haha. The hand I one a nice pot on (1k) was a little strange and I was PRETTY worried.

This shorty (about 500$) was being ultra aggressive, repushing pre for 5-600 after a 40$ raise, haha, brutal. So anyways, I didn’t want him doing that to me so I smooth call his raise in position with Ac9c. Flop comes AK6 r , he leads for pot (100$) I raise small basically showing I’m committing myself to the hand because he only has 500$ total to start hand, I raise to 233$ pot is 205$ right now, he pushes for his last few hundo. My thinking was, well, if I call here I cant fold the turn against this guy so lets get it in here, if im beat im beat, but he will probably lay it down if he doesn’t have an ace or a monster. He 3 bet pushes, I am 88.976% sure I’m beat but obv call. And the pot gets shipped to me, he shows QQ. Hahaha humlarious :) That’s how bad they play. (although I’m unsure if I play bad to) haha,

Anyways, I ended up a few hundred over the weekend (considering the stakes I was playing that’s pretty miniscule. When I was 4 tabling the 200 max I got a lot of puke inducing hands in that, I would have TPTK on flop, get a call from Pocket 5s, and turn 5. haha UGH, all money in. I lose, gg me.

So now im back to the 4x 50max games and beat up on them last night, took a pretty brutal beat ALL IN on the turn. I have TT. Raise pre get 2 callers, flop 3d4d7c I bet pot, one guy goes all in for like 10$ more, I call, other homo calls, turn, 4c. pot = 36$ I push for 37$, guy insta calls with 2c6c haha LMAO. River 5c. I lose to both hands, one straight and one flush ahah lmao. To funny. (I’m unsure if I played this hand correctly, ill post on some forums to get flamed tonight haha.

Anyways, after I get stacked there, I stack 3 ppl on 3 dif tables within 2 minutes. So strange. But I was happy. Haha. Only booked a small win for the night (mind u I only played 15 minutes)

Well, I bounced from work at like 2:30 or 3:00 yesterday because I was BEYOND exhausted. The 3 solid hours of sleep I had the night before had just killed me.

When I got home I plunked my fat ass in front of the computer for an hour-ish. Played 3 tables of 25 max and 1 table of 50 max. Beat up on the games pretty quickly for 1 buy-in at 50max and 2 at 25max. I was playing very well so I didn’t want to quit, played for about 30 min more after this and lost back half of the win. BOOOO. Ah well, I took a couple standard beats. Like, having QQ. UTG Raises, I reraise, he calls. Flop something like 378 with 2 hearts. He bets something like ¼ pot, then I push for 15-17 more. He calls with A8spades and rivers an ace. Strange way to play. Wouldn’t it be better for him to shuve pre? (I wonder what people are thinking when they call off 2/3 of their stacks with no pair no draw. They must think I’m bluffing with King High. (I hope they think that hahhaah ) 1 or 2 more funny ones like that and the wife came home from her friends and it was time to quit.

Other good news, I was planning on getting our honey moon trip and surprising my wife with it for X Max, however, I Saw a trip that looked awesome and the price was to good to pass up so I called her and told her my plan to surprise her for x mas but I didn’t want to wait and then have the trip jump up in price so we should book it now…. She pauses……and says……. Derek, I have something to tell you. Me: What is it? (Slightly confused). Mrs DMoney: I already booked us a trip. Me: WTF? Are you serious? Haha, you b@#$%^ ahah.

The place she booked looks not to bad, (Cuba, Cayo CoCo) Leaving Jan 5^th. Which kinda sucks cause, I get Dec 22 – Jan 2 off work … paid and then I go back to work for 3 days then a weeks vacation. That’s gonna be weird. Then in Feb or March we are going on a cruise. Odd, but hey, I’m not really about to complain about it. Hahaa

I’m keeping most of my roll in Neteller now, and am cashing out all the $ I earn over 200$ each day. I figure I almost NEVER lose 8 buy ins in a day (or even back to back days) so 200 should be enough for me to keep afloat and without having instant access to the rest, if I get steaming I have a little bit more time to cool down before I am able to jump up in the 5/10 NL game haha. This should help me in the future.

My most recent experience at 2/4NL has really opened my eyes as to how I’m a completely avg NL cash player at anything about 100 max. There are still tons of fish up there, however there are a few more sharks lerking about. I just didn’t do a very good job at avoiding the sharks the other day (Although I did ok at just exploiting the donator after awhile. (I would only play pots against him)

I think Imma play the rest of this week and next at 25max and shots at 50 max then on Dec 22 I’m gonna jump up and be a 50 max regular during my work hiatus. This should help me build my roll much quicker and also that I will have longer to play, maybe I can get 25-30k hands in, in that 1.5 week period.

Also, I’ve started to use PT to analyze my game more closely and found that I am HORRIBLE at playing unraised pots. Haha that’s basically the only area I’m a gigantic loser. Everywhere else I’m a significant winner. (I need to just stop playing unraised pots completely, No more limping for me, period.

DISASTER AVERTED.

Last night I did what I'm not supposed to do, Played high. FAAR to high. Started out playing 3x 25$ and 1x 50$. But then I just got this urge for some intense competition and HU play so I moved up and found a game of 1/2. Played OK in one game and got absolutely destroyed by one of the best players i've played against. He played position absolutely perfectly. Raise every button of his, I just couldn't handle his constant barrage of bets and raises. We finally got it all in i had OESD and he had...GULP. Top set. haha. Talk about bad timing. He just played like he had a monster everytime and the time i play back, he does have one. ahha. WOOPS. I think he was also hitting cards as well. I didnt hit even top pair in our whole match. As soon as he stacked me i left. He is way to good to play against.

Well anyways, I ended up buying in short to 400 max table. Built it up a few hundo, then this sick hand came up haha.

Villain is like 75/17/ over 100 hands. Pretty horrible player. But he is getting lucky in alot of spots. Over plays alot of hands. and CANNOT fold to almost any sized raise.

WOOOOW, crazy weekend. But good none the less.

Played a tad bit on Saturday after work on Saturday. Basically played horrible, ran poorly (Finally ran KK into AA haha, took long enough, it has been awhile since that has happened to me) It was just a bad session. Dropped like 8 buy ins (ouch my bum hurts)

Later on that day came back and played and won back 2 buy ins.

Played again late at night and was playing bad and continuing to run Unwell…. Haha.

I went looking for some HU action, not a single person waiting for HU action on any 25$ tables, nor any 50$ tables, not 100$ tables, but I found someone on the 200$ tables. Sat (Ya I’m stupid, and this is something I shouldn’t have done).

First hand In some guy sitting with 100 raises, I push with a small pair knowing he has shitty cards, he calls with A7o or something stupid, I flop a set.

A couple hands in, I get TT against a full stack new guy. Raise to 10, called. Flop, Ad5s7s.

He lead for 16$. I raise to 35$ He calls. So I’m done with the hand.

Turn T (JACKPOT) now I’m praying he has a good Ace. I lead 55$ he calls.

River blank. I think think think and push. He calls with A8o and I stack him haha, how horrible is that play by him.

Leave table with just over 500$. Feeling great and obv knowing I dodged a busto bullet there :) NO MORE OF THAT STUPIDITY.

I went back to playing my 25$ Max tables. With the occasional 50$ max thrown in.

Also, Saturday I met a guy named PelfHunter on Party. He is multi tabling the 25$ max tables and killing it. Right away when I sat down I noticed I had played like 600 hands with him and was like, hmm weird, I have never noticed him before. Then all the other people at the table look like players according to their stats. He says to the table, (no room for fish, everyone is grinding) haha, I laugh and say, but theres a fish here… YOU) obv just messin with him. We chat a bit, and I add him to my MSN. Seems like a solid guy. Shout out to Pelf if you’re reading.

Played for 3-4 hours, won many hundreds. (only like 200ish, but not to bad at 25$ tables haha. The roll is sitting at about 950$ and I’ve already cashed out close to 500$ US. Played in a mini Step tourney, they are still confusing to me (payouts etc) won a ticket to a bunch of free rolls and then one a ticket to the next level. Pelf is the one who told me to try these out.

Babysat my nephew all day so I didn’t have too much time to play. Im sitting about 27k hands online for the past month, Once I get to 50k hands I’m gonna move up to the 50$ max tables. (Hopefully that can happen within the next month)

I had to fold 8-10 sets this weekend to 4 card straight and 4 card flushes. At first I would just think, Man, I’m getting so unlucky, but the more I think about it, I think I have been letting people get there by not being aggressive enough. (I know to make a lot of money with sets you want to trap people, but it just seems to be backfiring on me the past couple days, so now I ask, Should I continue to trap people and just roll with the punches when I have to lay it down? Or Should I get more aggressive with them and (what I think would be losing value) Raise them harder and not let people draw at all? According to PT I have won the most money with sets by a lot so Im kinda confused. I’m gonna post some hands on 2+2 and see how much I get flamed for it.

Well, the past 2 days have been good/short poker wise.

on.......hmmmm... Thursday, ya thats it, it was thursday, I played a very short session. (about 30 min) and was basically sitting at even while 4 tabling. I didn't see much happening so i decided to quit for the day and unckecked post on all tables. My last table comes up and my last hand (all other tables closed at this point) and basically ill play anything suited and anything even remotely close to an ok hand when its the last hand at a table. I pick up 23dd. Limp UTG (Solid play) haha someone raises to 1$. I call. 2 to flop. FLOP [2,4,Q]rainbow. I lead at pot for 1.5 and he min raises. haha and for anyone knows anything about me knows that i dispise the minraise and almost will never fold to it haha. So OBV i call because (a) i may be good and b) i may get good on turn.

Turn comes a delicious 3s putting 2 spades out there. I bet 4$, he raise to 12$ I raises AI

(at this point i'm completely worried about him having QQQ because his bets are seeming so damn strong)

OH YA, effective stacks are 35$ for me, 45$ for him.

Anyways, he insta calls and river blanks, and he rolls AA. SHIP IT....

(I guess thats what you get when you minraise haha) I can't believe that I stacked this guy. I really think getting 1.5 buyins all in with 1 pair is a horrible idea. What hands does he beat here? I havn't been playing like a maniac or anything, so i have a set or 2 pair. or a straight. nothing else. he plays bad, i run good. (I like that combination).

Well yesterday i played for another short session. about 30 min after work before my best friend (sean) came over for dinner with his g/f. won a bit or break even, cant really remember. But after dinner, me and Sean came upstairs to check out what movie times were and while we were up there i jumped on a 50NL table really quick. played a few rounds and books a nice lil (almost full buy in win) the NL50 seems so easy (players are slightly tighter then 25NL but they seem weaker as well. (it's a pretty small sample so no real judgments yet).

HIP HOP ya don’t stop.

Went to see the absolute sickest show I’ve ever seen last night. Zion I & Grouch. It is the first time (possibly ever) that I have actually jumped around and yelled and screamed before haha. It was an absolute amazing show.

Was a small venue (Call the Office) can hold up to like 300 people but it was fairly packed. The opening act was ridiculous (and not in a good way) I’m pretty sure we all still agree we think he was making the stuff up on the spot. I recorded a short video of one of his “songs” on my phone. I’ll try to post it later. It’s pretty strange. Lets just say for now the Title is “Steve Irwin’s not a Merlin” and basically proceed to scream that line 10 times in a row, then play some loud video game sounds and end song haha. Repeat with new strange line for next song. WEIRD. Anyways, Deuce Eclipse came on as 2nd act and killed it. He was pretty sick, good quick pop pop pop style (by pop I don’t mean like pop music, I mean like quick rapid fire succession of lyrics) pretty tight. He’s of Nicaraguin descent so he throw some Spanish shit in there 2 which is good.

Main act was pretty ridiculous. I can’t say if heard a more rowdy crowd ever before at the office. So hyped. Although I was one of the oldest there haha (27) my brother must have felt extra ancient (30). GO ROB!!! Old timer. The avg age was probably 20.156 years old. The show was hyped and luckily I’m tall as hell so I could stand near the back and still see really well without having to deal with to many flailing children.

He open pushes for 10.75, sb has 6$ bb has 10.50 left, I think for all my time trying to show weakness and call, hoping they will overcall. No lucky turn K, river, 2 SHIP IT. Oh wait, no??? Oh, ok, Ship it to min raiser with 3,4o. hahaha lmao :) I actually had a pretty good laugh at this haha. Good times.

Well last night really sucked the duck. Went to visit one of my Grandmas in the hospital. She has Pneumonia and other various health issues. She’s 88 or 89 right now and and probably one of the funniest women I’ve ever met in my life. Such a sharp mind…unfortunately her body has deteriorated over the past 5-10 years that she is unable to even walk anymore (and can only move her arms a few inches due to both shoulders being dislocated badly and all ligaments and tendons torn beyond repair. It is very frustrating to watch her be so helpless when I know her mind is so sharp. Her favourite thing to do was just walk. She has never driven a car in her life. When we would stay with her we walked everywhere or took the bus or street cars in Toronto. The frustrating thing for me is I can see in her eyes that she is extremely frustrated that she can still think perfectly clear but can’t make her body do what she wants (and now she is so sick that she can barely stay conscious for longer then a few minutes. It’s pretty horrible to see her in so much pain.

She was born in Scotland and moved here when she was 14 years old. Married my Grandpy back in the day and stayed with him till he past about 20 years ago. She lived in the same house for 60 years. Close to 10 years ago she moved out here to London (ON) to be closer to all the family (who has pretty much all moved from Toronto to London as well, all though some have since moved back.) Anyways, just wanted to get that all off of my chest and I hope she can fight off all this shit that is afflicting her and she can get better. (although the prognosis is looking kind of grim)

So now onto some more uplifting stories.

I RULE A NL MICRO STAKES CASH GAMES haha.

I’m so good, I can pick up AA, KK, AA, KK, JJ, QQ, JJ, JJ, KK, AA, all on 4 tables within the course of 30 minutes. That’s just the big pairs, not including 33, 22, 55 and 77, which with all these hands included I flopped like 6 sets. Ahah so sick. Tons of action last night on my big hands, Most getting it all in preflop and holding with hands like JJ vs a push with 8,10 suited haha, when I flop a jack just to stick the dagger in the heart :) people were playing insane against me. I won close to 4 buy ins in 30 minutes and quick after about an hour of play. So sick haha. Loved it, If only poker could be like that all the time. That’s was the sickest rush of cards if had in cash games in awhile. Forgot about how nice that feeling is.

After I quit winner, I downloaded the new Muddywaters 2/4NL 4 tabling video from Cardrunners. Only watched half of it but it seems really good. There are a bunch of 100 MAX NL videos on 2+2 that I need to watch as well. Should be fun.

Another x-mas party last night. For my wifes work….One of them. I wasn’t even sure which one. (Turns out it was Corrections division with Salvation Army) UHOH…that means Jesus preaching saviour type folk. I’m not Anti Jesus, don’t get me wrong…I just feel that certain religions seem to produce a lot of negative thoughts and actions when they are supposed to do the opposite. A lot of my friends parents that are devout Catholics & Christians are very self righteous and condescending and if you don’t do exactly as they think you should you are a bad person. I think the majority of the earths population understand that to be a good person you only need to be kind and honest and thoughtful. You don’t need to go to a brick building on Sundays to worship….(Unless it’s a casino) :)

Anyways, enough of disbanding my READER(ship). Most of you who play poker and would read this are not religious anyways. Quick comment (I think I may actually become Buddhist) Not necessarily become one, but I may follow a lot of it’s teachings. It’s extremely interesting and as far as I can tell the monks are ones for starting a lot of conflict. It’s more a faith based on reason and logic then on magical water walkings etc. Just got a new book (Intermediate Stages of Meditation) I’ll read it and go from there.

Quick run down.

Played for a few minutes before the xmas party and won a couple dollars. YIP YIP. Came home, watched Heroes (Sick show, If you wanna watch it make sure u download all the episodes and watch from the beginning…. Extremely well written) Anyways, Played 4 tables later at night 3 x 25$ max NL and 1 x 50$ max NL. Absolutely CRUSHED the 25 max games, bought in for 10$ on all my tables and rolled it up to 55$ on 2 of them and dropped about half a buy in at one. The 50 max I only played one round (tables were packed last night) and for some reason only available table was someone sitting at a full ring table (1/10) so I sat for some HU action. Almost instantly the table filled up (GREEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTT). I unchecked autopost blinds and played 10 hands and left up 10$.

After cashing out my 400$ tourney win 2 nights ago and adding my winnings from last night, my roll is sitting around 520$ (hopefully in a couple weeks I can double that while getting another 30k hands in (have 19k hands in PT right now) and at 50k hands I plan on moving up to 50 max. The last 5k hands or so my PT stats have dropped a bit due to my slightly less then optimal play haha. Down to 4.75 PT bb / 100. which is kind of annoying. I really want to keep it above 5 so that means, tighten up and no bluffing.

Time to get back to work.

Oh ya, quick addition.

My friend Troyomac played the 200+15 second chance on stars last ngiht, finished 14th, so close to a huge finish.

This kid has been crushing it in multis lately. Finished 4th in a FTOPS for 8k, as well as a bunch of other 4k cashes etc. Doing really well, im very happy for him.

What a good/bad/good/bad/good weekend.

Friday night had an x-mas party for work which was hella fun. Lots of good food and lovely looking ladies, my wife included. Ended up feeling pseudo sick near the end of the night…. No it wasn’t from drinking… at least not to much. I had a couple of glasses of wine and I think it was that. It must be some preservative they put in their wine or something. We had the part at the Four Points Sheraton (same place we had our wedding reception) and at our wedding I got sick as well. Weird….

Anyways,

So Saturday the wife went to some walk a thon thingy and obviously she never raised any money for it like she was supposed to (she does this with basically all fund raising things haha) so she went and just gave 60$ of her own money and left haha… what a lazy bastard :) Luckily she doesn’t read this or know it exists. Then she went to a craft show with a couple of her friends. (THANK YOU LORD) the past 2 years I’ve had the displeasure of going to this show and gosh golly is it unexciting (ya I like to make up words). So basically I had a few hours to play…. and lose.

Played pretty poorly most of the weekend. First session Saturday went poorly, dropped 4 buyins ish in a couple hours. I noticed I had picked up my aggression and also was trying to bluff when I wasn’t doing either before (before was when I was 7pt bb / 100) after was 4-5 PT bb / 100. You are probably wondering why picking up my aggression isn’t a good thing… well 1) ive really toned it down for the micro limits 25$ max tables and 2) even after toning it down im probably 2 – 3 x more aggressive then other opponents at this level.

Well, being really aggressive at this limit is bad because ppl wont lay down hands. For the same reason bluffing is a BAD BAD BAD idea as well. (sorry for using caps to emphasize things but that’s just how I roll. Bluffing is the worst thing you can do at this limit. Honestly, I’ve noticed that if you just check ur misses and bet ur made hands you can easily win 6 pt bb / 100 no problem. Don’t try to be tricky, just bet and raise ur good hands. Don’t get me wrong, when I say bluffing, I mean I obviously am beat and don’t have much of a shot at improving, I don’t mean don’t semi bluff (that is the best part of my game) I’m very good at semi bluffing and making it look like a good made hand. I win a lot of pots where I’m behind by semi bluffing.

Anyways, so I took a couple hours and did some house work, dishes, laundry, etc. (How much of a baller am I? haha)

Came back and played another session for an hour or so and recouped probably 2 buy ins of my previous loss (still not playing great but better then I was before) Wifey got home and I quit. I seem to be much better at quitting ahead and especially behind.

Saturday night I just stayed in and relaxed and put up xmas decorations and the tree. Well Sarah put them up. I just brought them up from the basement. GO ME.

Well after decorations I watched the leafs own the Canadians……well at least for most of the game they did, Then they blew it as per usual. OMFG I WANT TO SNAP ON THEM!. Haha, ya I’m kinda a die hard leafs fan, anyways.

During 3rd period I went and played some more and can’t remember if I won or lost, Im thinking I won, I actually think I even played some stud hi for a bit and broke even over an hour or so. Oh ya I also played some Omaha 8 and won a buy in real quick only to dump it and another buy in back to some other guy who was playing better then me and getting better hands. I boated turn and he nut boated…DAMN IT pocket Tens.

So probably ended up loser in that session which sucks but oh well, normally id go on monkey tilt at this point and play 5/10NL but not this time. I stayed calm and just went to bed.

Next day the better half worked 10am to 11pm, so I played some and was up and down over the course of the day. Decided I wanted to play live and went to a Card club in London for some 1/2NL 200 max. That sucked my bag and for the 2nd time in a row I went bust. For some reason im incapable of playing well there, I don’t know what It is. Maybe it’s the one guys open raises to 131$ or maybe it’s just that my 99 loses to JTo when a dood limp calls from UTG haha. Meh. Shit happens. Most of the guys play bad there but I just didn’t pick up a single hand. AK once, missed flop. Turn king, 250$ pot when the guy turned a king with like Kj or something, called the 15$ flop bet with no pair no draw haha. Crazyness. Anyways, nuff complaining, I dropped 2 bills there.

Came home was on mini steam tilt and played a couple tables of 25 max. and 2 3$ qualifiers for the 200k Sunday. Huge chip leader 3 handed when my KK loses to A2o AI pre haha obv. And then JJ loses to 77 AI pre, and AA loses to 44 on the river AI pre. Hah crazyness. So at this point I get that bad tingly feeling inside where I’m getting angry and want to jump up my limits and to appease this I look at the NL tables higher up, but calm myself a bit and decide I just want to play 3 x 25Max and 1x 50Max.

The 50 max went really well winning a little over a buy in over 100 hands. Also decided to play a 6$ multi. Started, I was playing really well, making good reads, pushes, and folds. Ran my stack to 13k when down to 150 ppl, 310 started. I get AA, and we get it all in for 12k pot, im up against 44, and YUP u know it, river 4 again haha. EW. That stung.

Doubled up again pretty soon after and just kinda cruised. The bubble went by hella fast which sucks cause that’s my best/favourite time of a tourney. I love to bully ppl there. Anyways were ITM (Top 40) and next thing I know down to 24, and im playing well with an avg stack. Get a nice double up and im cruising, crush some more people (cant remember a lot of hands till the final table) and voila… final table time. The whole final table took probably 20 minutes… so crazy. The blinds wernt even that high.

1k/2k or so. 100 ante.

At one point, I get dealt, 77, 77, 55, 33, 33 all in a row.

I raise the first 77 to 20k, at the 3k/6k level. A guy pushes for 80k, this seems like a really tough spot for me to callin even though I had close to 200k chips. I just don’t want to have to flip for that many chips at this point. I opted to fold. Next hand I get 77, raise, limper calls me. Flop AJ7.. I lead for 36k into an 85k pot, he thinks for over a minute and folds. WTF does he have that he folds here? INSANE. So disappointed haha.

Next hand 55, comes around raised to me,I fold.

33, I raise, same guy for AJ7 hand calls. Flop, K92, check check, turn 9, check,I bet 30k, he folds. (NICE)

Weird hand. UTG limps, I raise to 24k with the 2nd 33 hand at 4k/8k. Button smooth calls (WTF?) hes got like 30k left. Sb pushes for 150k. I fold. Button calls shows AKo, SB QQ. Flop, 3,4,5. UGH. turn 6, river 7. haha lol NEWMANIUM

People were dropping like flies at the final table.

One guy busts 2 ppl in 2 hands (first hand AA, 2nd hand KK) haha gross.

Down to 3 handed quickly, I get dealt QQ and raise at 5k/10k with 400k stack. (chip leader by 100k) SB pushes with A8, I call and hold. 700k SHIP IT. Very next hand, I get QQ again so sick. What a good spot to be in. I raise same amount, he pushes his KQo and I hold. I win 400+$. Not to shabby. This was definitely the fastest/wildest/strangest final table I’ve ever seen. Im happy though.

Oh ya, one crazy hand that I sucked out on huge.

I have 120k with 14 left. Villain has 60k.
I raise UT with AQo 7 handed. Villina shuves for 60k, I call, and he shows aces. Flop, 5QQ, SHIP IT hahah how gross is that. Gotta love poker. Ill be sure to not complain for my next few bad beats.

Shortly after that I closed up shop, removed Cashed out 410$ and headed to bed. Leaving me with about 450$ in my account. Im trying to make sure I pay myself a bit each week now. When I used to win and I wouldn’t cash any out for awhile, id get mad at myself cuase eventually id just lose it all and have nothing to show for it. Imma try an do it right this time.

Left work a couple hours early yesterday to go to the doctors and when i got home i had a few hours of "free" time...aka no wife. So i played around 600 hands or so. 4 tabled my normal limits (25$MAX) and was absolutely running so sick for the first hour) then near the end of my session got in a couple tough spots. where i would raise 99 and someone would push for really not alot more and i would kinda have to call and lose to AJ or something like that. also missed a couple big draws that i played aggressively on the turn (OESFD) etc. no biggies. making the correct moves at limits i'm bankrolled for is easy. so much less stress then playign way over your head and trying to do it hahah lol.

Ended up a bit. Ran my PT stats almost up to 7bb/100 when i went on a bit of a poop filled downswing and ended up at exactly 6bb/100 i believe. still a very small sample (only 12-13k hands) so i'm not getting my hopes up to much.

I know i've been running pretty well lately in that, only ran KK into AA 2 x in the past 2 weeks. also, only had TPTK or Overpair vs a set a few times (THAT I LOST) once we got it all in pre Me with AA him 99. flops a 9, river ACE wammy haha. I liked it.

Some guy yesterday tried to get tricky wiht me, he raised, i reraised, got a flat caller in between us and he smooth calls my reraise. I flop a set with KKK we got it all in (3 way) he had AA, i had KK cold caller had QQ. weird hand, We were getting it all in anyways if he repushed on me so meh. shit happens.

One thing i have been thinking about as i run well is I dont want to get to cocky and thinking that im playing amazing becasue as soon as the cards start to even out it may make me tilt like crazy or something.

So many people think that when they are running well its not the cards, it's their play....in reality its almost all the cards. the difference between a good and bad player is how you play when your not running well. It has nothing really to do with how you play when your running well.

Im trying to keep it all in perspective that im running well and still getting pretty lucky in some spots not just playing well... although i do feel that im playing pretty solid poker.

I also realized that back in the day i was addicted to calling at these low limits with 2nd and 3rd pair on the river because people do often bluff alot down here and alot of the time they just don't realize they arn't supposed to be betting in those spots. Once you start doing this it's like a drug and you can't stop. I was about to make a call last night in a similar situation and thought to myself, who cares if he is bluffing. he probably isn't but it's not worth getting into that bad habit again of calling alot with marginal hands. Doing it once and winning puts you in the mind state you can do it all the time and be profitable.... that is far from the case.

Anyways, folding the river is the hardest part of poker to me but i've been doing really well lately with it. I really think that has helped to improve my results dramatically.

Short & Sweet. My favourite.

Last night played a quick lil 1000ish hand session.

I’m still playing the 25$ max tables on Party (4-6 tabling) with a nice short 10$ buy in. While im building my bankroll this short buy is definitely helping to minimize my BR killing bad beats and or bad plays :)

As I build up closer to 500$ BR (around 380$ right now) I’m going to slowly build my buy in up. Next week ill probably start using 15$ buy ins until I get a cushy bankroll and then ill go 20, then 25. I Really want to play 50k hands at this limit before I move up. I’m playing about 7k hands a week at this point (maybe a bit less due to some days I don’t get to play at all.)

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about understanding the players at each limit before moving up. I know I have poker skill enough to just go play a bit higher however, I want to understand the types of players and types of plays 100% before moving up. I feel that this will help me to succeed at higher limits and adjust much quicker and easier at those limits when I get there. I normally am trying to race through the limits and get as high as I can as fast as I can but this time seems to be different. A different mind set has got me doing things properly.

Im at 6.05 BB /100 over 12k hands at this limit. A month or 2 more playing this limit should really help me and if I can do that without taking shots then I know I can become a big winner at online poker and maybe recoup some of my ridiculous losses haha.

Last nights session was a tastey one. The wife was out at some craft type thingy so I had 3 hours to just chill and play some hands. 4 tabled Part 25$ max tables. Poker Ace HUD is the best thing on earth. It saves me a lot of money….Not by showing me who the fish are (95% are fish) but who the good tight players are. 25 VP$IP and below. When there are a couple of them on a table just leave. That’s what I’ve been doing. HUD makes it a lot easier to fold TPTK against these tight players also.

Can’t remember any really huge hands from last night.

Oh wait, on hand that was funny either from last ngiht or 2 nights ago.

I get AA on the button. UTG Raises to 1$, MP calls, I raise to 3.75$ pretty sure that someone is going to stack off here, I had like 40$ + at this table covering everyone. Folded to UTG who thinks thinks thinks and folds, MP pushes for 20 something and I call. He loses with K7s. UTG says he folded QQ. Seems about right from the amount of time he took. Either way they had about same stack so its unlikely K7 woulda stacked had QQ pushed. Either way I had a good laugh :)

So I’ve been playing for the past 8 or 9 days on party.

donig really well in the Micro Stackes games (25$ NL). hahaha lol. I'm a joke :D

PT Stats : Around 6 BB / 100 hands over 9700 hands. That’s the best results I’ve ever had over approx 10k hands.

Yesterday was kinda rough just kept losing, felt like I was playing a little to loose and not folding the hands I know I’m beat on enough.

So im rolling around 270$ right now or so. Thast off a 25$ deposit haha funny stuff. My goal is to keep playing tight and winning. The players at this limit obviously are beyond horrible. Min bets almost always mean if u raise they will fold, and so many ppl just keep min betting, it is 2 funny.

Things have been going great, It’s weird how sometimes something will just click and all of a sudden you are getting it. Everything is just so damn clear. I plan on playing 50k hands at this limit and moving up to 50$ NL next. I don’t want to use my BR as a determining factor to moving up just yet, because I don’t want to put much if ANY focus on how much money is in my account or anything, all I want to do is concentrate on my PT BB/100 and # of total hands, that’s it. I want to keep it around 5-7. Six would be a great # to just sit at forever hahah. Although 7 would be my ultimate goal at this limit. Supposedly great players can kill NL cash for 9-11 PT BB / 100 regularly so obviously I have some work to do, but I think I can get to 8 or 9 with a little tweaking. I just have to remember to play tight and fold marginal hands oop.

So I havnt played much in the way of poker lately, until this past Saturday and Sunday.

I jumped on Party for the first time in forever

Games still seem to be filled same as before. Ive heard someone say that they don’t see any trash talking on their now that the Americans are gone, however I saw plenty of it…. Maybe us Crazy Canuks are just a vulgar? (or some of the 17 year old ones THINK they are tough behind a monitor) haha that’s probably more likely.

So I played some 25$ NL games with a short 10$ buy in. (6 tables) sometimes 4 tables.

I love playing Short Stacked because it seems to keep me much more focused and I feel that every decision means more so I play tighter.

Also, I find it exceedingly difficult to fold TPTK against so many weak opponents when they show strength cause so often they are showing strength with TP weak kicker. Haha.

One interesting this came out of this weekend. I downloaded Poker Ace software…. Next to poker tracker this is the sickest software ever. It is a must for my 1 readers (ME)

Basically it displays ur opponents PT stats on each table you have open.

I was using it and I flop TPTK (AQ) Q9x flop. I bet pot, and a tight ass 12 Vp$ip over 250 hands calls me (right off the bat his preflop call told me he had a good hand and basically right now there are only 3-5 hands he smooth calls my Cbet with). Other opponent calls as well (donktastic 44Vpip) so im not worried about him. Turn comes, I check and tight ass bets ¾ pot, and other villain calls, Im sitting here letting my time run out thinking I absolutely MUST be beat here, I doubt he would smooth call flop with AQ as well, he’d raise it, so he must have a monster. I fold (which is the first time I can remember folding TPTK at this level hahah and its all because of the damn POKER ACE.

Oh ya, effective stacks at start of hand were like 44$ for him, 36$ for me. I only lost like 8$ or something like that on the hand.

Anyways, he flipped up a set of 9s. I figured right there, DAMN! This software is amazing. It just saved me a lot of money. Basically it just saved me enough money to buy it for 25$ so that’s what I did. Haha. Transferred 25$ into Neteller and im gonna buy that shit tonight.

Anyways, I played the best Cash game poker of my life on Sunday and over 3000 hands had a 6.6bb/100 and did fairly well. Made good laydowns, and made some really thin calls.

All in all I was 100% satisfied with everything. Oh, cept when QQ got run down 2x by AJ all in pre J EW.

Anyways, hopefully I can play a bit tonight and play well.

Poker action……

Last night played in the 22$ Rebuy Multi Sat on Stars to the PCA 650$. About 100 people entered, I busted in 19th. Top 14 pay. UGH now that effing sucked haha. Luckily I didn’t have to rebuy once, but I did the addon for 20$ and 1500 chips.

I played very well the entire tourney, Seems like last night I won almost every important coin flip. 3rd hand in I get KK in BB and knowing it’s a rebuy can’t wait for all the action im about to get, 3-4 limpers, then Button raises, SB calls, I push for exactly 1k and get 2 callers, 89s and KJo. Triple up time. YE HAW.

My bustout hand went something like this, I have 14k ish, fairly avg for the table, blinds are at 1k/2k 100 or 200 $ ante, folded to SB who completes, I have J8o and push (OBV just wanting to steal) and get called by SB with KcTc. Hmmm. Interesting call. I hadn’t played a hand in a couple rounds so he obv wasn’t paying attention. I personally think that is a pretty bad call in this spot cause its not like I was stealing a lot or anything. Anyways, that sucked and obv I lost so sucks to be me.

Poker has been ok for me lately, I’ve reverted to the easily beatable SnGs on stars (nothing over 20$ though. Just keeping it small. Been winning, however dropping that 42$ last night hurt a bit but I can roll the degenerates for that back this weekend.

I actually had a lot of fun playing in that MTT last night, havn’t played in a decent sized tourney in awhile. MTT seem so easy when I have my patience with me. I may start playing some more of them in the near future.

p.s. My bday is this weekend. YAYYYYY!!!!!
